7. Dennis Driskell2 Jr (Dennis Driskell1 Sr), was born Abt. 1698 in Somerset. He was still there in 1740 when he sold land to Dennis and Additional to Moses Gordie.
A Dennis Driskell appears in Kent Co., MD, married to Mrs. Mary (nee McCabe) Cunningham. It is not known if he is the same person as Dennis JR of Somerset Co., MD:
Driskle, Dennis.Will. Made Nov. 15, 1754. Duck Creek. Heirs: wife Mary; dau. Susanna; son Joseph. Exec'x, wife Mary. Wits., Daniel Evans, Isaac Hurlock, William Darling. Prob. Nov. 23, 1754. Arch. vol. A15, page 87. Reg. of Wills, Liber K, folio 99.
Dennis Driskall and his wife, whose maiden name was Thacker, were natives of Ireland, but came to America and settled in Danville (sic) county, North Carolina. They had Timothy, Dennis Jr, David, Polly and Sarah. Mr Driskall died, and his widow and children removed to Franklin county, KY, in 1805. Dennis Jr was married in North Carolina, to Barbara Craft, by whom he had -- Jesse, John, William, David, Thomas, James H., Dennis, Frances, Elizabeth, and Sarah. James H. was married in Kentucky to Martha Wallace, and settled in St. Charles county, MO, in 1825, and the following year he removed to Callaway county, where he and his wife are still living. They had eight children, three sons and five daughters. Mr. Driskell is called the working man of Callaway county, and by industry and economy has made a fortune. He is a carpenter by trade, and built the first Auxvasse Presbyterian Church. It is related of him that he once bought a yoke of oxen and some bacon in St Charles county, and conveyed the bacon home, a distance of sixty miles, by tying it around the necks of the oxen with hickory withes. Not long afterward, while he was lying in bed one morning, he heard the oxen jump the lot fence, and knowing they would go back where they were raised, he sprang up and followed them, dressed only in his shirt and drawers, without hat or boots. He failed to head them, but followed them to St Charles county, and drove them back home, performing the journey of one hundred and twenty miles in twenty-four hours, and with nothing on but his shirt and drawers.

Dale Thomas DRISKELL is a participant in the Driscoll DNA project. His pedigree follows:
- Andrew M. DRISKELL b. 17 Mar 1820, Mercer County, Kentucky
- David DRISKELL b. 02 Jan 1844 in Breckenridge County, Kentucky
- Henry Thomas DRISKELL b. Nov 1879 in Breckenridge County, Kentucky
According to LDS Ancestral file and other sources on the net, Dennis DRISKELL Jr. of the Maryland line and Dennis DRISKELL Sr of the North Carolina line are one and the same yet the DNA of the two lines differ. The two lines share a common ancestor but that is estimated to be 1000 to 2000 years ago. Hence either the two Dennis are not one and the same or a non-paternal event is involved. Examples of non-paternal events include a wife's infidelity with a non-DRISKELL, an unmarried DRISKELL mother passing her own surname to a child or the adoption of a non-DRISKELL child.

More testing is required. Since Timothy DRISKELL is said to descend from Dennis Jr. and the James DRISKELL from Moses Sr, the best DNA donor would be a male DRISKELL who descends from some other son of Dennis DRISKELL Sr, i.e. William, James or Richard. Such a person may not exist in which case an additional person from the line of Timothy DRISKELL. That additional person should be as distantly removed from Dale DRISKELL as possible.
