Daniel Webster Clay Rector was the son of Jesse Rector (2) and Nancy Brammer. He was born on 4 Nov 1858 at Rector's Flat, Wayne County, Kentucky. He married Laura Huffaker on 22 Feb 1876. Daniel was a preacher. He and his wife gave the land to the community to build the local school (possibly the Murl School House?) and the Rector's Flat Baptist Church in Wayne County, Kentucky. The church was built in 1905, and the school was probably built first. D.W.C. Rector died on 28 Jan 1916. Daniel Webster Clay Rector and Laura Huffaker Rector are both buried at Rector's Flat, Kentucky.
Laura Huffaker was the daughter of Henry Clay Huffaker (1832-1917) and Margaret Ann Shearer (1838-1924). Laura was born 23 Jan 1860, and she was only 16 years old when they were married. She died 22 Mar 1922. I've put up a a separate website based on the information Clara Smart's book provides about the Huffaker family. Another interesting coincidence in Mrs. Smart's book indicates that through the Huffaker-Shearer-Vickery line, we're also descended from the Broyles, yet another Germanna Colony settler family. The Broyles, however, are from the second Germanny colony which was established in 1717. I haven't yet checked the Germanna records to see if her information matches theirs, so I'm not sure if this is true.

2. Christopher Wayne Rector, born 14 Jul 1879, died 12 Jun 1963 (both at Rector's Flat, Wayne Co., Kentucky), married Emma Frost on 22 Feb1901. These are Everett Rector's parents. Please follow the link for this family to get to Everett and Erma Rector.
3. Nancy Ann "Anna" Rector, born 2 Nov 1880 at Rector's Flat, died 8 Sep 1954, married Artemus Edward "Artie" Barnes (1876-1955). Please note: These are the parents of Clarissa "Clara" Rector Barnes Smart, who married John Abe Smart. This is the Clara Smart who wrote The Rectors of Wayne County, Kentucky; the sourcebook for much of the information in these Rector Web Pages. They had three children:

f. Martie Denney, b. 1 Sep 1910; d. 8 Apr 1989 at Lehigh Acres, Lee Co., Florida. Martie first married Farris J. Wright (1913-2000) in 1931. They divorced in 1945. He next married a woman named Dimple Dessie VanPherson (1905-1996), Martie and Dimple were close friends of my grandparents.
6. Jesse Henry Rector, born 24 Apr 1886 at Wayne Co., KY, died 10 May 1977 in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee. He married twice: 1st to Alta Ollie Sharp (sister of Erma Sharp, who married Jesse's nephew, Everett Newell Rector) and they had four children:
a. Anna Lee Rector, b. 18 May 1919; d. 14 Mar 2007 at Elverta, Sacramento Co., CA, first married Gilbert Catledge, second married Clarence Zine (1926-2000)

William Cicero Ramsey was born 11 Mar 1882 or 1883 and died 18 Nov 1957. He was the son of Richard Armstrong Ramsey (1842-1898) and Lavinia Eugena Graham (1848-1935).
