I recently
found some old Alaska Commercial Company ledgers for Tyonek, Susitna and Kuskatan.
These charge accounts are dated 1876, 1877 and 1882 and have a wealth of
names in them. When reading the information below, remember that the agent
spelled phonetically... Example: The first person in 1876 is the same as
the first person in 1877. A blank column just means the person had no debt
for that month. In the 1882 column, the bookkeeper hyphenated some
names, most likely to help with pronunciation. Names highlighted in green were hard to read
and may have errors. Additional information
(in parenthesis) was written in the orignal ledger.
