Jesse
Lee Children's Home
..
The
Jesse Lee Children's Home was established in Unalaska, Alaska (by the Methodist
Church)
for
Aleut orphans in 1890. The orphanage was mostly self sufficient with the
children
maintaining
the school and growing most of their food. The orphanage continued in Unalaska
until
1925, when it was moved to Seward, Alaska. The orphanage was again
moved (1964), after the
Alaska
earthquake severely damaged the school. In 1970, the Jesse Lee Children's
Home merged with the Lutheran
Youth
Center and the Anchorage Childrens Christian Home to become ANCHORAGE CHILDRENS
SERVICES INC.

* Tommy, Esther, Henry
and Oscar Munson were children of Oscar Munson and his wife Allie
(an Athabascan). Oscar was the U. S. Mail Carrier for the Homer Settlement
in 1929, he came to America in 1903 from Sweden.
