In 1898, Agnes married Dr. Albert Warren Newhall of Massachusetts; that first year, Albert worked at the new orphanage as a medical missionary;he became superintendent of the home in 1902.
Agnes (Soule) Newhall died in 1917;she is buried in Unalaska. Albert then married a teacher from the orphanage named Emma Supernaw. They worked at the Jesse Lee Children's Home until it was closed in 1924.
The Spanish influenza of 1918-1919 decimated many coastal Native villages, causing overcrowding at the orphanage. Not only were their buildings aging and in disrepair, but it was very expensive to transport children and supplies to remote Unalaska, so the Women's Home Missionary Soceity moved the Jesse Lee Home to Seward, Alaska in 1924. When that happened, Albert and Emma Newhall moved to Barrow, Alaska where Albert died in 1929.
Seward was a large deep water port and most people (and freight) came through Seward, making it an inexpensive place to operate the orphanage. However, in 1964 a massive earthquake severely damaged the Jesse Lee Childrens Home, so the children were relocated, once again, to Anchorage. In 1970, the Jesse Lee Childrens Home was merged with the Lutheran Youth Center and the Anchorage Childrens Christian Home to become ANCHORAGE CHILDREN'S SERVICES INC.

"As we look back
over the past year, we have much to be thankful for. There has been no serious
illness in our home and we have escaped such a calamity as the volcanic eruption
which did so much damage to the Baptist Mission near Kodiak."
"The family numbers
about forty and the children are a lot of real live boys and girls. Here they
have a good home, receive industrial training and get an education as
well. A-buk, Pup-ke-na, Tu-ra-ga-na, Tu-ga-nuk-suk are girls from the
North while Ca-tu-a, Co-la-luk and Na-noo-na are boys from the same Arctic
region. Ca-tu-a is now at a trade school in Tacoma, Washington and we
miss him very much for he is an earnest christian and a good worker. Na-noo-na
arrived last fall. His mother was one of a party of Eskimo who perished while
out on a hunting expedition, the little boy being rescued by friends. He is
five years old and a bright little fellow."
"In the summer
the children have a fine time playing on the seashore or in climbing the mountains,
while in the winter they slide down the steep hills and skate on the lake.
A few have skates but they lend them around so the less favored ones enjoy
the fun also. A number of the children have saved enough money to buy skates
for the coming winter."
"The girls have
a thorough training in housework and they are adept with the needle. During
the past year, the girls and teachers have cleared more than $300 with their
needle work."
