Mielke Connections
I've
started this page because so many people have contacted me with hopes of
finding
a connection
to their Mielke relatives/ancestors. When I first started researching
the Mielke
line,
I thought that it was a unique name, however, I've come to the conclusion
that it is
a very
common Pommeranian name and that may be part of our collective research
problem.
THERE
ARE MORE MIELKE LINKS AT THE END OF THIS PAGE !!
I'm using
this page to list some of the Mielke familiy outlines that people
have sent me. If you find something that sounds familiar, please
write to me and I'll try to connect you to the person who originally sent
it to me, however, I can't guarantee a connection to the authors
of the following information, since I don't know if their e-mail addresses
are still
valid
, however, if you are a Mielke researcher like myself, it's "worth a shot".
Good luck searching for your Mielke's. If you'd like me to add your
name and Mielke info to this page, so that other Mielke researchers can
find you, please drop me a line at: coleen_mielke@hotmail.com
Note:
You will notice that some of these entries appear to be repeats of other
entries......when
you see that, it means that more than one person has sent me
information
on that family.

I am
looking for the Mielke family that lived in Conn. My sister-in-law
was from Richfield, Conn. Her dad was Rhienhoe Felix Mielke (called
Raymond). He had three brothers, William, Julius, and Theodore, and two
sisters, Emma and Barbara. This is the only information she has on
them. He was born 14 Jan 1907 and died in 1980 in Georgia. He was married
to Ethel Rose St.
Germain
from Hudson, Mass. If you have any information that will help me
add this to my family tree inf. I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Jewell
Albright
I have three Siblings:
Todd
Mielke born March 19, 1967 in North vancouver B.C. Canada
Todd's
wife is Kim Mielke. They have a son, Thomas Cole Mielke born May9,
2002
Daniel
Craig Mielke born September 13, 1955 in Washingto State. Dan has
2 sons Zachary Mielke (age 13) and Quinn Mielke (age 11). both were
born in Washington State.
Jeffery
charles Mielke born July 18, 1954 in Vancouver, B.C. Canada.
I
am Darragh (Dara) Brook Mielke born November 22, 1965 in North Vancouver,
B.C.
Currently
I am in Calgary Alberta Canada.
My
mother is Avoca Mary Mielke (nee Davis)
My
father's brother was Roger Pritchard Mielke (deceased)
His
sons are David, Brad, Michael and Tyson. All were born in Campbell
River, B.C., Canada.
Brad
has a daughter Amelia. They reside in Victori, B.C. Canada
Michael
has a son and daughter, Sheena. They reside in Japan
David
and Tyson remain in Campbell river and run a family operated production
company for educational videos.
.I also
know a number of my grandfather's siblings homesteaded in Provost, Alberta.
A number of Mielkes still reside in ths area and in Edmonton.
Karl
& Christine Mielke came to Canada from Kesling in approximately in
approximatley th 1860's
They
had three sons: Herman, Randolf and Paul. Herman, who would be by
great great grandfather, was 6 months old when they arrived in Quebec.
Herman
and Paul remained in Quebec. Randolf went to Saginaw Michigan.
Herman
Mielke married Evelym Gimm. They either had 12 or 13 children of
which 10 survived into adulthood.
The
names of the children are as follows (not in chronolgical order)
Minnie
Mielke, Edith Mielke, Dolly Mielke, May Mielke, Earnest Mielke, Walter
Mielke, Daniel Mielke (my grandfather), Peter Mielke, Clarence Mielke.
Dad
remembers May having 3 boys. He believes them to be in the Edmonton, Alberta
area
Earnest
had 3 children: Joyce, Robert and Fred. They apparently reside in
Edmonton and the Provost area.
On
a funny note, Dolly Mielke married a Guy Miekle.
My
dad has lots more info in a file with dates of births, marriages etc.
I have seen some pictures of my great grandparents with my grandfather
and his siblings as children.
My name
is David Goldsmith. I am married to a Helen Miller whose
Grandmother
was Edith Mielke. Edith was the daughter of Herman Mielke and
Evelyn
Gimm. I have photographs of the homestead where Herman and Evelyn
lived,
including the house where Edith and many of her siblings were born,
as well
as a photo of Herman and Evelyn. That house was still standing as of
last
summer when we visited that area. It is in a part of the province of
Quebec
called "La Blanche"named for a small river and lake of the same name.
I also
have numerous photos of tombstones in a local cemetery where many of
the
original family were buried.
Edith
Mielke married a Henry Berndt, whose family also emigrated from the
Pomerania
section of Prussia in the 1850s. They moved from La Blanche down
south
to a community named Buckingham, Quebec, where they established a
dairy
farm. That farm is now in the third generation and one of my wife's
cousins
owns it.
Edith
and Henry had eight children, Evelyn (now 98 and living in Canton
Ohio),
Harvey (now about 96 and living in Kingston Ontario), Russell,
Muriel,
Douglas, Lloyd and Grace, all deceased. Muriel was my wife's mother
who
married a Maxwell Miller who also was from Quebec, but who was raised in
the
extreme eastern portion of the province in Gaspe, where the St. Lawrence
River
meets the Atlantic Ocean.
I have
much more information going back to the families in Pomerania prior
to moving
to Canada which I would be happy to share.

They owned a grocery store in New Berlin, IL from a newspaper article I
found. But, I don't know much else about the family.

I received the following e-mail. It refutes the above e-mail. Judge for yourself:
Not completely sure who the Martin Johnson is who you give credits to on your website, 'Mielke Connections' but he's been given mis-guided information from somewhere. I'll explain: Find the Frederick Mielke b. 12/31/1821 in Neuhof, Germany. This is the man/family who I'd like you to correct in your website. . .and not from the Martin Johnson collection.
First, the man's name is spelled wrong. Proper birth spelling is Friedrich Miehlke. I am not completely sure where the man was born but do know that it was not Neuhof. Mr. Johnson has the correct birth date but Germany, I don't think so. Prussia was the correct location during Fred's birth time. Fred has/had 4 siblings. Two of which were born in Tuchel, Prussia. Now, Tuchola, Poland. Fred's father was born in a smal 'suburb' of Tuchel, Prussia. Fred's mother was born in Neuhof which was a suburb of Vandsburg in the province of Flatow, Prussia.Perhaps Mr. Johnson has mother and son mixed up.
Eva Lucht was not Fred's wife's birth name, it was Euphrosina. She was not born in Zempleberg. She was born in a smal town in the province of Flatow. Mr. Johnson's info. is correct in that Fred was indeed the second son born to Adam. Adam & his wife had three son's and two daughters. Adam was also married previously & has older children besides the 5 I know about. Fred and Eva's chldren were Caroline b. 11/20/1852 in Prussia. Wilhelmena b. 11/14/1856 in America. Julius Ludwig b. 11/13/1858, Green Isle Twp. Sibley Co. MN. Fred b. 11/11/1860 Sibley Co. Johann Karl E. b. 6/7/1866 Green Isle, & Louise Bertha b. 6/7/1866 also in Green Isle.
Thanks
for the updates in advance. If someone out there is cyberspace is
related into my bunch of Mielke/Miehlke's please send them my way.
