Birth record states that Frans Johan was born 12/29/1849 on the farm Högnalöf Södregård, Uråsa Parish to farmer Gustaf Magnusson and Brita Andersdotter age 28. He was living with parents in 1871 census for Vãckelsång Makagård Hultatorpet Sweden. "Frank" died of tuberculosis of the leg (had to have leg removed below the knee and is buried at Tripolis Cemetery Kandiyohi, Minnesota. The family came to America in 1879, as confirmed by the 1900 Kanidyohi, Minnesota U. S. Census. Obituary: Atwater Republican Press 11/16/1906 Page 5: NOTE: All post immigration account says Frank Gustafson was born in Vãckelsång, Sweden, however, that is not totally accurate. When looking at the original Swedish records, I found that, although he grew up in Vãckelsång, he was actually born in Uråsa, Kronoberg Sweden. I found a Marriage record for Frans Johan Gustafsson (Farm hand) married Ida Gustafva Johannisdotter 24 March 1878. The marriage document stated that Frans was from: Wäckelsång, Makagard, Hultatorpet and Ida was from Wäckelsång, Prestgard, Thorshögen

FRANS married IDA GUSTAVA JOHANNISDOTTER daughter of JOHANN JOHANNISON and JOHANNA MARIA JONASDOTTER on 24 Mar 1878 in Fösamling,Väckelsång,SWEDEN. IDA was born on 14 May 1858 in PRESTEGARD,VÄCKELSÅNG,SWEDEN. She died on 25 Aug 1940 in SAVANNAH,ILLINOIS,USA. She was buried in TRIPOLIS,CEMETERY,KANDIYOHI,MINNESOTA.

Willmar Tribune 8/27/1940: "Mrs. Frank Gustafson passed away Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Victor Engman, at Savannah, Illinois. She was a former resident of Kandiyohi and the remains will be shipped to Kandiyohi. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Victor Engman, and two sons, Oscar and Herbert Gustafson both of Minneapolis." Ida Gustava (Johannisdotter) Gustafson's death certificate, issued in Carroll County, Illinois confirms her year of birth and date of death. The cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage and arteriosclerosis. She is burired in the Tripolis Cemetery at Atwater, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota.
