Common Ancestor Chart
To find your relationship to another person...
(this sounds complicated, but isn't)
1. Enter the name of the ancestor you both have in common into the "CA" space
2. On the
right
hand numbered side, count down the number of generations between
your common ancestor and yourself (i.e. Great Grandfather/Grandfather/father/me...)
3. On the
left
hand numbered side, follow the
same
process for the ancestor in question
4. Run your finger
diagonally
/
downward
from the
right
hand numbered side
5. Run your finger
diagonally
/
downward
from the
left
hand numbered side
6. Where the two lines cross
(where your fingers
meet
on the chart)
; it will tell you
how you are related to the person in question.
