FURNISS FAMILY HISTORY
stationary family, remaining in the Cold Higham/Pattishall area until the late 1800's, when my great grandfather,
Thomas William Furniss joined the Northampton Regiment and traveled extensively throughout England, Ireland and India (for the next 12 years). While stationed in Ireland, he met and married Margaret Keogh. Thomas and "Maggie" raised their children in the cities of Cherry Hinton and Cambridge. My mother, Kathleen Furness (her father's generation changed the spelling) was born in Cambridge in 1924 and came to America as a War Bride after World War II (in 1947).
