Alaska Snowmachine Adventures
Hi,
My Name is John and I have a small snowmachine
repair
shop in Alaska. I specialize in
repairing,
restoring and riding older snowmachines.

Hoodoo
Mountains near Paxson, Alaska
John
rode his machine to the top of the mountain at sunset,
high
above the Arctic Man camp, elevation 5,600 ft.
.
The HooDoo Mountains.....at the top
John
and Arctic Cat made it to the top

This
spring, John was recruited to do some remote welding in the Extreme Skiing
section
of Hatcher Pass. A Bombardier Snow-Cat was stranded at the 3,800'
level
of the mountain with a broken front suspension. On this photo, the center
peak
has
a small black dot near the skyline. Thats the broken Snow-Cat waiting for
John
to haul his welder up there with his snowmachine....
definitely
REMOTE welding.
Almost there, still
climbing up to the broken Snow-Cat.
The small black dot
at top center skyline is the destination...the welder is held
onto the snowmachine
with bungee chords and another snowmachine is bringing
the generator for
power.
John chose his 1987
Arctic Cat Cougar to climb the mountain
It
has a 1981 Moto Ski Sonic MX 500 cc motor, a '93 Cheetah
cowling,
a '94 Summit suspension and track and the clutch from a '91 Arctic
Cat Jag.
.
It was
a steep climb to the 3,800 foot level !!
This
is part of the approach to the work site.
You can see the road
up into Hatcher Pass from this elevation...
what a view!!
Mission
accomplished!! John takes a well deserved rest after a
white
knuckle ascent and tricky remote welding job in Hatcher Pass.
