Mrs. COLBY formally resided in Newark Valley and came to Owego with her husband soon after their marriage a little over four years ago. She was an active member of the Congregational church of this village and it's Christian Endeavor society and King's Daughter's circle. Briant was a principal and a school teacher for 40 years. He taught two years in Boulder, Utah, two years in Marysville, Utah and the other years in Salina, Utah as a history teacher. He and Zoe enjoyed traveling to many places in the world. After retirement he was on the Snow College faculty, working in their community service projects such as senior citizen needs and adult education programs. He loved music and contributed much throughout the years with his musical abilities. Briant wrote an autobiography called ``Chasing Rainbows'' which turned out to be a wonderful book of genealogy for the family. Survived by wife, Zoe; two daughters, Mrs. Blaine (ShaRee) Anderson, Mrs. Carlos (Carol Lee) Hansen; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by son, Alan Briant Burgess. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 13, 1993 at 1 p.m. at Salina, Utah 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Springer-Turner Mortuary, 150 East Main, Salina, Utah, Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and also Saturday from 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Interment, Salina East Cemetery.
