She was born Sept. 21, 1902, near Callaway to John H. and Alice Colby Solt. She grew up and attended school in the Callaway area. On June 30, 1928, she married Charles B. Munnell at North Platte. In March 1939, the couple moved to a ranch southeast of Brewster, where they made their home. In 1964, she moved to Sargent. She spent many years taking care of elderly people in their homes. In May 1998, she entered the Goli Medical Center. Survivors include 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in July 1963; an infant daughter; two sons, Carl and Franklin; her parents; two sisters; and three brothers. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Valley Gospel Church near Brewster with the Rev. Don Schauda officiating. Burial will be in the Brewster Cemetery. Enid Mable Spain Colby Our mother, Enid Mable Spain Colby, left this world for a better place on February 8, 1997. She was born May 11, 1911, to Arthur Thomas Spain and Annie Elizabeth Oliver Spain in Hull, Yorkshire, England. She was married to our father, Boyd H. Colby (deceased) on November 11, 1945, in London, England, while he was serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. They later solemnized this marriage in the Manti LDS Temple. Mom arrived at Ellis Island on July 4, 1946, with many other war brides. They were not allowed to disembark until the next day due to the July 4th national holiday. She is survived by her daughters, Irene Whall (Greg), Diane Martin (John); and son, Ronald Colby. She was grandmother to eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her sons, Dennis Spain and Marvin Colby, preceded her in death. Her favorite things during her lifetime here on earth were flowers, lots of color, the ocean, and any small child she came across. We will miss her strength and humor. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, at Memorial Estates, Redwood Road, where friends and family may call one hour prior to services.
