She is a member of the Indian Oaks Country Club where she was very active. She was also a volunteer at Kishwaukee Community Hospital and was an avid Bridge player. Gladys truly enjoyed being with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Connie (Frank) Pardridge of De Kalb; her sons, Lynn (Karen) Colby of Valparaiso, IN, and Gregory (Dixie) Colby of Venice, FL; her loving grandchildren, Terry (Debbie) Pardridge, Curt (Vanessa) Pardridge, Doug (Terri) Pardridge, all of De Kalb, Stefanie Colby and Damon (Michelle) Colby both of Valparaiso, IN, Chad and Darci Colby of Venice, FL; her six loving great-grandchildren, Paige and Cole Pardridge, Nina and Heather Pardridge, Abby and Dane Pardridge; two brothers, Harry (Betty) Houghtby of Waterman, IL and Jim (Jean) Houghtby of Montgomery, AL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin in 1998; her parents; a sister Bernadine Sawyer; and one sister in law Ruby Isham. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with the Rev. Joseph Gastiger of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in De Kalb, officiating. Cremation followed at the Anderson Funeral Home, Ltd. Crematory.
