Minnie Inez Colby, daughter of Albert and Abagail Colby was born in Lamont, Ia., June 8, 1856. She departed this life Sunday morning, March 6, at five o'clock in the home of her nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Claude V. Colby, with whom she had made her home for the past twelve years.

At the age of three years she accompanied her parents to Illinois where the rest of her life was spent with the exception of a few years in California. Miss Colby had an unusually keen and alert mind. She was intensely interested in all current events, and was passionately fond of nature. She was very skillful with her needle and had been busy during the past winter quilting an appliqued quilt, the design of which she fashioned herself.

She was a Universalist in religious belief, as were her parents before her. Her nature was quiet and retiring, but possessed those qualities which made her so beloved and respected by those around her.

She was buried in the Union Cemetery at Crystal Lake, McHenry County, Illinois Parents: Albert H. COLBY and Abigail SMITH.
