Lewis T. Colby attended the Canaan Academy, and then spent some two years at painting, after which he returned home and took charge of his father's farm, and has remained there ever since, easing and making happy his parents' last hours. He formerly kept a large dairy and raised a quantity of sheep, but now he only keeps a small dairy, and is interested very much in poultry. He has one of the largest yards of poultry in the town, keeping upwards of 600 choice hens and raises some 600 to 1,200 fowls a year. He has a standard and special trade in eggs at the Boston markets. He is a Democrat and loyal supporter of Democratic principles. He is a member of the M. E. Church, and of the Grange. Erie Daily Times Erie, Pennsylvania (Erie County) Monday, March 3, 1980 Lillian Colby Veenschoten Lillian C. Veenschoten, 86, 4250 W. 38th, died Sunday at Western Reserve Convalescent Home. She was born in Chicago, Ill., May 21, 1893, a daughter of the late Edwin and Jessie Vandruff Colby. Her husband, Vincent Van Veenschoten, an Erie industrialist, died in August, 1978. She was a member of Wayside United Presbyterian Church, the Carrie T. Watson Garden Club, and a past member of the Hamot Aid Society. Survivors include three sons, John C. Veenschoten of Erie, William E. Veenschoten of Birmingham, Ala.,. and David V. Veenschoten of Naples, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Donald C. Burton Funeral Home, 602 W. 10th, Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service at the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Free officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
