Colby, 59, who died Saturday morning at his home, after a lingering illness. Carl Sevy of the ward bishopric conducted the services. Speakers were August Malmquist and Irvin L. Warnock. Musical numbers were the opening and closing hymns, "Sometime We'll Understand" and "Beautiful Land," sung by a chorus composed of Mrs. Morris Myers. Mrs. Leo Mallory, Mrs. W. F. Barron, Mrs. B. Hardy, Mrs. Peter Gurr, Mrs. Lamar Dastrup, Mrs. Rulon Jorgensen, Mrs. R. P. Howard and Miss Bernice Dastrup, accompanied by Mrs. R. E. Black; a duet, "Jesus Lover of My Soul," sung by Miss Bernice Dastrup and Garn Dastrup; a duet, "One Fleeting Hour," by Mrs. R. E. Black and Mrs. Lamar Dastrup. The invocation was by L. L. Dastrup; the benediction by William Condor. Chas. Jones dedicated the grave. Interment was in the Sigurd cemetery. Pallbearers were Irel, George, Walter and Jack Colby, sons of Mr. Colby, and Augus Barney and Wayne Davis, sons-in-law. Mr. Colby was born April 22, 1880, a son of Isaac and Mary Elizabeth Hoops Colby. Surviving are his widow, Mrs Martha Robinson Colby; five sons, George, Irel and Yuzell Colby of Sigurd, Walter Colby of Venice and Jack Colby of Ogden; four daughters, Mrs. Angus Barney of Richfield, Mrs. Laverl Christensen of Redmond, Mrs. Wayne Davis of Sigurd and Mrs. James Montgomery of California; his mother, Mrs. Mary E. Colby; two brothers, Isaac and Edwin Colby of Sigurd, and two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Lazenby of Salt Lake and Mrs. Samuel Gurr of Sigurd. The oldest son of Willaby and Sarah, was born on Ocetober 27, 1767 in Newton,
NH. He, with his father, mother, and four uncles, moved to Bow, NH in the Spring
of 1768. James and his father built many homes in Bow. On 24 Jun 1790, he married
Susannah Stewart of Dunbarton. She was the daughter of James and Margaret Stewart
and was born 23 Jan 1773 in Salem, NH. On 2 Nov 1790, he bought 13 acres with
a barn, of John sulloway, the blacksmith, on Wood Hill, and the next year he
bought 20 acres with the house. The buildings stood about half way from the
height of land where the "liberty pole" stood, to the wall south, on
the westerly side of the road. James died 15 Feb 1829 at the age of 61. His
widow died 18 Dec 1848 at the age of 76 ys, 10 ms, 26 ds. They both are buried
in the Evans cemetery on White Rock Hill Road in Bow, NH.
