BIOGRAPHY: The History of the Early Settlers of Sangamon County, Illinois: "James Sims was bo rn in Virginia, taken by his parents to South Carolina, where he was married to Dolly Spiller s. They had foud children there, and moved to Logan county, Kentucky, where they had one chi ld, and from there to Caldwell county, where three children were born; thence to St. Clair co unty, Illinois, and from there to Sugar Creek, Sangamon county, arriving in the sporing of 18 20 in what became Ball township, Sangamon, Illinois. He built a horse mill there to run by b ands. He quarried stone of the same kind of which the first State House in Springfield was b uilt, and by the aid of his brother-in-law, William Spillers, made the burrs for his mill. H e was the first Representative from Sangamon county in the State Legislature. He moved to Ro ck Creek in what is now Menard county, and from there to Morgan county. He was a Methodist p reacher, and formed the first circuit ever organized in Sangamon county." Polly and George had seven sons, John a lawyer i n Champaign City, Illinois, Thomas a laywer in Paxton, Illinois and James a clerk in Macoupin , one term. Matilda moved to McDonough county. Agnes had six children, Thomas married the g rand-daughter of Rev. John Berry and lived in Clinton, Illinois. Wesley lived near mancheste r, Scott, Illinois. Vizilla lived near Arcadia, Morgan,Illinois. Blackman married four time s and lived in Naples, Illinois.

Below I have added the descendants of the first generation , Issac Taylor. My records in dicate that he had two brothers , who also came to America before the Amer. Revolution. A Jam es and William Taylor. I have no information on them. 2nd generation, John Taylor, I have born on May 1,1772 in Maryland . He was married twic e. His first wife, Susan Mobley (1808-9) and they had 8 children. 2nd wife, Susan Trotter (ma rried in 1816, had 9 children). My records also state , that he was a preacher and the parent s of quintuplets.
