Illinois: History of Cass County, Illinois, ed. William Henry Perrin. O. L. Baskin + Co. Hist orical Publishers, Chicago, 1882. Cass County. FRANK H. SPRING, Park House, Beardstown; was born in Pike County, Ill., in 1856; son of Josep h M. and Hannah E. (Fisk) Spring. He began clerking in a drug store in Naples, Ill., in 1869 ; in 1870, he came to Beardstown with his parents, and in 1872 engaged as clerk in C. M. Spri ng's store, where he remained five years. He then kept a drug store for two years, then sol d out, and became clerk for his father, in the Park House, and in February, 1882, bought a half interest in that house, which is now conducted under the management of Spring B ros. Joseph M. Spring, subject's father, was born in Cuyahoga County, O., March 4, 1821; he came to Pittsfie ld, Pike Co., Ill., in 1836, where, after the death of his father, he took charge of the family, and worked the far m until 1860. He then ran a stage from Pittsfield to Naples, about four years; he engaged in the livery business abou t three years in Naples, Ill., and ran the old Naples House and the Strother House until 1870; he was also in the hote l business in Warrensburg, Mo., a short time. He came to Beardstown in August, 1870, leased the Park House , which he afterward bought in 1872, and conducted it for ten years, and after several change s in the management, sold it in February, 1882, to Charles M. and Frank H. Spring. It is a fi rst class hotel, and forty-five sleeping rooms, five sample rooms, three of which are on th e first floor, and all modern conveniences. Joseph M. Spring married, March 2, 1849, Hannah E . Fisk, of Maysville, Pike Co., Ill.; they have had six children: Sylvester Omar, Charles Mer rick, Frank Howard, Lucy E., wife of H. G. Unland, of Beardstown, Elmer Ellsworth, and a daughter , deceased. Joseph M. Spring's father, Sylvester O. Spring, located in Ohio, in 1819, and mar ried Frances Merrick, of Pittsfield, Mass.; he died in 1839; she, about the year 1865; they h ad two sons and four daughters.

CENSUS: 1860 census of Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois shows: M and Catherine Sprinkle and ch ildren: Maria, Henry, James, John, Pleasant (14/f), Joseph, Mary, Martha, Charles, Kate, R.B . 6months/f. The census shows children Maria and Henry as being born in Ohio and all other s born in Arkansas. One researcher said that Charles lived his whole life in Sangamon and be cause of the 6 month old baby being listed as Arkansas it is possible that the census taker l isted all birth places as Arkansas even though some may have been Illinois. I put the childr en born after 1850 as being born in Illinois because the Sprinkler family was not in the 185 0 census of Sangamon.spouse: , Catherine (1820 - )CENSUS: 1880 census of Cooper, Sangamon, Illinois shows: Walter and Bell WIRT and son, Ray an d Bell's mother, Katherine Sprinkel.

!BURIAL: Record of Sidney Cemeteryspouse: Fairbanks, Almira (1809 - 1850)BIOGRAPHY: Sandy Rosequist <Sandra_Rosequist@atk.com> writes: "All I have prior to John Nobel Stephens is an unsubstantiated family history. I have John Nobel Stephens, who was the son of George and Wealtha Stephens. According t o my records her (Wealtha's) maiden name was Buck. They (George and Wealtha) were supposed to have been born in Shaftsbury, England and arrive d in the U.S. prior to 1800. Also, I have John's birthdate as March 18, 1801 in Shaftsbury , VT. John was also supposed to have been married before he married Almira Story. He was sa id to have been married to Wealtha Palmer who died in 1831. The marriage of John and Wealth a supposedly produced three children: Martin Luther Stephens Mary Stephens and Lucy Stephens (maybe this Lucy died so he used the name again in the next batch of kids ) Like I said, all this is unsubstantiated. The first real evidence I've had of some of t his information was John Nobel Stephens land purchase in Indiana."
