Wilkes Bozman's descendants
     Wilkes Bozman was born on 14 August 1776 at Baltimore County, Maryland.2,3 He was the son of Edward Bozman and Frances Saunders.1 Wilkes married Mary Royston, daughter of John Royston, on 5 May 1802 at Baltimore County, Maryland.4 He and Susanna Steen were married on 16 April 1833 at Morgan County, Ohio.4 He died on 4 May 1855 at McConnelsville, Morgan County, Ohio, at age 78.3 He was buried in McConnelsville Cemetery (McConnelsville), Morgan County, Ohio.5,6
     Wilkes was head of household on the 1810 US Census at Mine Run Hundred, Baltimore County, Maryland. The household consisted of 1 male under 10, 1 male 26-45, 3 females under 10, 1 female 10-16, 1 female 45 and over, and one other free person. Wilkes was listed as Wilks Bosmen.7
     The county history said "Wilkes Bozman came from Baltimore County Maryland in November of 1819 and settled upon the farm now owned by David Mercer. He brought with him a family of 6 children, his wife having died in Maryland. The names of the children were Edward, John, Frances, Ruth, Elizabeth, and William.". However, an 1882 article on John R. Bozman, states Wilkes and five children moved to Morgan County 21 September 1819.8,9 In 1820 Wilkes Bozman, listed as Wilks Bosman, appeared on the US Census in Bristol Township, Morgan County, Ohio. The household consisted of 1 male under 10, 2 males 10-16, 1 male 26-45, 1 female under 10, and 1 female 16-26.10
     Wilkes was granted letters of administration for the estate of Edward Bozman on 16 October 1828 at Morgan County.11
     Wilkes was head of household on the 1830 US Census at Bristol Township, Morgan County, Ohio. The household consisted of 2 males 15-20, 1 male 50-60, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 15-20, and 1 female 20-30.12
     Wilkes appeared on the 1840 US Census at Bristol Township, Morgan County, Ohio. The household consisted of 1 male 60-70 and 1 female 50-60.13 He and Susanna appeared on the US Census taken 1850 at Morgan Township, Morgan County, Ohio. .14 He was a farmer.14
     Wilkes owned property in Bristol, Meigsville, and Bloom Townships in Morgan County.15,16,17 Wilkes had bought 168.52 acres at Morgan County by a cash entry land patent on 10 March 1825.18 He and Susanna Steen deeded a quarter section in Bristol Township to Robert McConnell in a deed signed on 3 May 1837 at Morgan County, Ohio. .19 He was deeded 158 acres in Bloom Township by Alexander and Elizabeth McGreger in a deed signed on 30 December 1843 at Morgan County, Ohio. .20 He made a number of land purchases in Morgan County over the years that he lived there.
     Wilkes made a will on 30 March 1855 at Morgan County, Ohio.21
