     Hugh Cochran was born on 17 March 1797.1 He was the son of James Cochran and Margaret Lowry.1 He and Almira Seymour Clark were married on 14 December 1820 at Marietta, Washington County, Ohio, by Rev. Samuel P. Robbins.3,4 He died on 22 July 1863 at age 66.5 He was buried in Dresden Cemetery (Jefferson Township), Muskingum County, Ohio.6
     
     Hugh Cochran was an administrator of the estate of his brother James Cochran at Washington County, Pennsylvania.7 Hugh was head of household on the 1830 US Census at Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio. The household consisted of 1 male 5-10, 1 male 30-40, 1 female 15-20, and 1 female 40-50.8 He appeared on the 1840 US Census at Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio. The household consisted of 1 male 10-15, 1 male 40-50, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 20-30, 1 female 30-40, and 1 female 60-70.9
     Hugh and Almira Seymour Clark appeared on the US Census taken 1850 at Jefferson Township, Muskingum County, Ohio, with Margaret Frances Cochran and Almira Ellen Cochran. Also listed in the household was Fernelia Clark 74.10 He was a farmer.11 Hugh and Almira appeared on the 1860 US Census taken 4 July 1860 at Dresden, Muskingum County, Ohio, with Almira Ellen Cochran. Also listed was Philomena Clark an 85 year old female born in Connecticut.12 He was a potter.12
