John Lowrey Cochran's descendants
     John Lowrey Cochran was born on 26 February 1817 at Ohio.2 He was the son of John Lowrey Cochran and Mary Catherine Bricker.1 He and Elvina P. Williams were married on 20 May 1838 at Ohio County, Virginia (West Virginia).3,4 He died of cholera on a steamboat on the Ohio River near Marietta in 1850.5,6 He was buried in McConnelsville Cemetery (McConnelsville), Morgan County, Ohio.7
     John moved to McConnelsville, Morgan County, Ohio, in 1837.8 In about 1838 he began manufacturing cigars at the corner of Center and Poplar Streets in McConnelsville.8
     John appeared on the 1840 US Census at McConnelsville, Morgan County, Ohio. The household consisted of 1 male under 5, 1 male 20-30, and 1 female 20-30. He was listed as Lowry Cochran.9 John and Elvina appeared on the US Census taken 1850 at Morgan Township, Morgan County, Ohio, with Charles Edwin Cochran, John Lowrey Cochran, Virginia Amanda Cochran, Emma E. Cochran and James Milton Adair Cochran. .10 He was a tobacconist.10
