Hugh Macauley Cochran jr.
     Hugh Macauley Cochran was born on 18 January 1866 at McConnelsville, Morgan County, Ohio, according to the H. M. Cochran sr. family Bible, but his birth was given as 17 January 1865 in his obituaries and death certificate.1,3,4 He was the son of Hugh Macauley Cochran and Mary Royston Bozman.1,2 He and Mary E. McFarlan were married circa 1892.5,6 He died on 3 August 1939 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio, after three months hospitalization at age 73.3,7,8 He was buried on 5 August 1939 in Greenwood Cemetery (Zanesville).3,9
     Hugh Macauley Cochran appeared on the census of 18 August 1870 in the household of Hugh Macauley Cochran and Mary Royston Bozman at McConnelsville, Morgan County, Ohio. .10 He appeared as a son in the household of Hugh Macauley Cochran and Mary Royston Bozman on the US Census taken 16 June 1880 at McConnelsville. .11
     Hugh and his wife Mary appeared on the US Census taken 7 June 1900 at 200 Eureka Street, San Francisco, California. The household included his children Hugh McCauley Cochran, William Roy Cochran and Claude Tonry Cochran.12 He was manager of a lumber company in 1900 at California.5
     Hugh was yard manager in 1903 for the Union Lumber Company at San Francisco.13
     Hugh and his wife Mary appeared on the US Census taken 26 April 1910 at 200 Eureka, San Francisco, California. The household included his children Hugh McCauley Cochran, William Roy Cochran and Claude Tonry Cochran.6 He was a lumber clerk.6

     Hugh Macauley Cochran and his wife Mary E. McFarlan appeared on the US Census taken 9 April 1930 at 2255 Lake Street, San Francisco, California. This was probably an apartment house as there were 10 separate families as this address.16 He was manager of a lumber company.17
     Hugh was retired in 1932 from the Union Lumber Company, San Francisco, California, where he had been general manager.7
     Hugh moved to Zanesville, Ohio, circa 1932.8 He had pernicious anemia.3,18 His inventory was filed on 21 Sept. 1939 in Muskingum County Probate Court. The net appraisal was $110,185.96.19
