Francis Wayland Cochran

     Francis Wayland Cochran was born on 21 August 1873 at McConnelsville, Morgan County, Ohio.^1,2 He was the son of Hugh Macauley Cochran and Mary Royston Bozman.^2,1 He and Maude C. Brent, daughter of Charles Robertson Brent and Emma E. Whipple, were married on 19 March 1912 at the bride's home, McConnelsville, Morgan County, Ohio, by T. B. Roberts.^3,4,5 He died on 21 October 1964 at McConnelsville, Morgan County, Ohio, at age 91.^6,7 He was buried in McConnelsville Cemetery (McConnelsville).⁸
     Francis Wayland Cochran also went by the name of Way Cochran. He used Way, Wayland, F. Wayland, and F.W. He did use Francis on documents or when his full name was written.⁹

     Francis Wayland Cochran became involved in his father's cigar business in the late 1890s. He was listed as a manufacturer of cigars on the 1900 and 1920 censuses and the manager of a cigar factory on the 1910 census. After his father's death in 1922, Francis Wayland Cochran became the sole proprietor of Cochran Brothers cigar factory and continued in that capacity until the factory was closed in the early 1950s.
