Dear Robert, just a note on Martha Jerusha Cobb Connor and Robert M.
Conner, my 7th g-grandparents. They married Nov. of 1848, Mad. County.
They immigrated to Leon County, then part of Robertson's original Colony
Where on NOvember 30, 1849, their first child, Sarah was born. She's not
listed in your index. Sarah is on the 1850 census with her parent's for
LEON County, Texas. Martha and Robert had 5 children. Also on this
census, Martha's two younger sisters, Mary Catherine Cobb (married Peter
Boone Kind) and Jerusha Cobb are living with them, they were 15 and 9 at
the time, guess they didn't like their step-mother. Sarah married in 1868,
Leon County, Texas John Mayfield Moore, the son of a wealthly land and
business owner, Benjamin Franklin Moore and Mary Ann Easley Moore (the
EASLEY line goes all the way back to Virginia to the same time as Joseph
Cobbs, I have all that lineage too). Sarah Connor Moore had 3 children,
Mary Ann Moore, Laura Virginia Moore and my 2nd great-grandfather, Robert
Franklin Moore. She and the 2 girls died in the 1873 Yellow Fever Outbreak
that wiped out half the county. She was buried in Shiloh Cemetery with her
father who had died in 1860 at only 39 years old. Martha Jerusha Cobb
Connor raised my 2nd great-grandfather as John Moore remarried a Parker of
the Famous Parker family, ie. Cynthia Ann who was kidnapped and the mother
of the last Comanche Chief, Quannah Parker. Sarah Connor Moore is not
listed in your index. She was the grandchild of Jerusah and Azariah Cobb
and great-niece of David and Martha Bryant Cobb. I have the records to
prove this. Robert in turn married Laura Eugenia Prestridge, Who's father
was William Anderson Prestridge of Yazoo County, Miss. He first came to
Texas during the Mexican War under Col. Jeff. Davis and Gen Zachary Taylor,
whom I am a descendant of my father's side of the family. SMALL WORLD.
Poor Sarah Connor Moore is forgotten in most of the COBB lines I have
checked on the internet. Sarah's brother, only one, William SMith Connor
was the justice of the Peace in Robertson County for over 40 years. THis
past APril we had the Shiloh Reunion were many of The MOORE/COBB/COnnor
descendants gathered and celebrated our ancestors contributions to the
Great State of TExas.
