MILITARY & PENSION
Jacob served in Captain L Hutching's Company, NY Militia from October 4, 1814 to November 18, 1814. Received a land bounty.
Rev. and 1812 Wars Section. W. O. 9044- Wt. No. 1834-120-55. Signed by Winfield Scott Commissioner in April 4, 1927. States that Jacob married in 1800 in Herkimer, NY to Hannah Cox. And that he died in Alexandria.

The Dutch naming conventions would explain the suffix of "in" on a daughter's name.
TheGerman accent can also account for the difference in pronounciation of Cox, Coch, Gac, Gax

War of 1812 Declaration of a Widow for Pension State of New York County of Jefferson On this second dayof July AD one thousand eight hundred and seventy two personally appeared before me a Pension Notary of the County of Jefferson in and for the county and state aforesaid Hannah HArtman aged 98 years, a resident of Alexandrai, county of Jefferson , State of new York, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of Jacob Hartman who served the full period of sixty days in the (1) military service of the United States in the war of 1812; and who was the identical Jacob Hartman who (2) volunterred in captain Hutchinsons company Col Myers Regiment _ _ _ _ Brigade _ _ _ _ Division at Schuyler Herkimer county on or about the 1st day of September 1814 and was honorably discharged at place not known on or about the 1st day of January 1815; that (3) said Jacob Hartman served at P Sacketts Harbor Jefferson County, New York - that deponent cannot give the dates accurately -- that she thinks said Jacob Hartman served about 4 months in all. The said Jacob Hartman received one Land warrants for 120 acres of land the named deponent cannot now give that she was married under the name of Hannah Cox to said Jacob HArtman about the ear 1800 by Rev. Spinner at herkimer, Herkimer co., NY there being no legal barrier to such marriage; that her said husband died at Alexandria, Jefferson Co, NY on the 4th day of March 1858, and that she has not re-married since his death; that at no time during the late rebellion against the authority of the united States, did she or her said husband adhere to the cause of the enemies of the Government, giving them aid or comfort; or exercised the functions of any office whatever under any authority, or pretended authority, in hostility to the United States; and that she will support the Constitution of the United States; that she is not in receipt of a penion under any previous act; that she makes this declaration fro the purpose of being placed on the penison rolls of the Untied States,under the provisions of the act approved Februray 14, 1871, and she hereby constitutes and appoints, with full power of substitution and eevocation, Wayland F Fine of Lafargeville, Jeff Co., NY her true and lawful attorney to prosecute her claim and obtain the pension certificate that may be issued; that her post office is at Plessis, countyof JEfferson, Sttate of New York; that her domicile or place of abode is Town of Alexandria, Jeffsen Co, New York Attest Wilson Ritter Signed her mark X Hannah Hartman (Applicant) Attest Gilbert Shannon This Application was Rejected May 10, 1883 for short service

An affadavit sworn by James Cox 1n 1872 in the town of Plessis, Jefferson County, NY. He states that he attended the funeral of Jacob Hartman in Alexandria in the year 1858 and that the maiden name of Hannah Hartman was Hannah Cox.
