CHAUNCEY BOYD was born in Western, December 11,1809, son of JAMES and MEHITABLE (REYNOLDS) BOYD, natives of Rhode Island, among the pioneers of Western, where they lived and reared a family of five children, and where they died. Chauncey Boyd has always resided in Western, and has lived on the farm he now occupies for sixty-four years. In 1831 he married CATHARINE, daughter of John and Rachel CARPENTER, of Western, by whom he had five children: ALMIRA (Mrs. EDWIN FRASER); SQUIRE; CHARLOTTE (Mrs. WILBURN CUMMINS); JANE (Mrs. ROBERT D. PHILLIPS); and EMMA (Mrs. ALVIN R. STONE). Mr and Mrs Boyd are probably the oldest living married couple residing in Western, this date,August 16,1895.

Mrs. Catherine Boyd, widow of the late Chauncey Boyd, died at her home Wednesday morning, over 91 years of age. Her maiden name was Catherine Vandewalker, and she was married to Chauncey Boyd in March 1831, and since that time had lived in the same house to which she went as a bride. Five children survive her, Rev. Squire Boyd, of Middlesex, Mrs. R.D. PHILLIPS of Morton, Minnesota, Mrs. A.R. STONE of Branchport, New York, Mrs. Charlotte CUMMINGS of Western, and a daughter, Almira, in Nebraska, and one sister, Mrs. Charles DECKER of North Western. Utica Daily Press, Tuesday Morning, October 9, 1900, page 8, col. 4 Westernville Mrs. Alvin STONE of Branchport, New York, is in town called by the death of her mother, Mrs. Catherine Boyd. Squire Boyd of Middlesex, came also to attend her funeral on Friday. The services were conducted by Rev. E.U. BROWN of Steuben. Internment was made in the cemetery here.

Rome Citizen Newspaper published weekly December 24, 1901 page 5, column 2 Mrs. Jesse M White The death of Mrs. Jessie M White, aged 83, occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Israel Denio, 630 North James street, Saturday afternoon after a short illness. She lived at Ridge Mills until recently. Her husband died several years ago. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Denio, George Frank and John Bowman, all of Rome.

The late Mrs. Jesse M White
Mrs. Jesse M White, whose death occurred on Saturday afternoon at the house of her daughter Mrs. Israel Denio 630 North James street was born in the town of Western 84 years ago. She was the daughter of Mr & Mrs James Boyd and resided in the town where born until after her marriage in 1834 to Alexander Bowman when they removed to Canterbury Hill. Mr. Bowman died in 1877 and two years later Mrs. Bowman was married to Jesse M White and they took up their residence at Ridge Mills, where he died about two years ago. His widow then came to this city to reside with her daughter. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Denio, George, Frank and John Bowman and one sister, Mrs. S M Mason all of this city. Mrs. White was a consistent member rof the Wesleyan Methodist Church and held the respect of all who knew her.

I, Jesse M White of Ridge Mills, County of Oneida and State of New York, being of sound mind and memory, do make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, that is to say:

First, After all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, I give, devise and bequeath to my wife Esther White all of my property of every name and kind and personal or mixed(?), that I have or may have at my decease to have and hold absolutely and forever.

Likewise, I make, constitute and appoint my wife Esther White sole executrix of this my last will and testament with full power as such executrix to sell and convey any real estate I may die(?)seized(?)of this my last will and testament hereby removing all former wills by me made.

In witness whereof I have herewith subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 19 day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety eight. Jesse M. White Witness:Harvey E.
