Editor's Comments
The 1912 Yearbook has two articles about the Stark Family of Louisiana, Missouri, founders of Stark Brothers Nurseries & Orchards. The first article is entitled : "One Line of the Virginia Branch of the Stark Family." The second article is entitled :Stark Bros. Nurseries & Orchards. Photos of James Stark (Founder) and Edger Stark (son of James) are in the articles. The Authors of these articles suggests this family descends from James Stark of Stafford County, Virginia and further suggests James and Archibald Stark of New Hampshire (father of General John Stark) were brothers. However, Y-DNA test of male descendants of James Stark and Archibald Stark with the surname "Stark" suggest it is more likely James and Archibald were distant cousins. Click HERE to see an analysis of these DNA test. Obituaries reported in this addition were: Mrs. Annie Elizabeth (Burrows) Pendleton; J. Nelson Geer; Eliza L. Shaw (wife of Sterling P. Graves); Mrs. Katherine M. (Stark) Tyler; and John Faris. In my the yearbook collection, I did not have the pages reporting the membership and the names of those attending the reunion. Not being very knowledgeable on the James Stark of Stafford County, Virginia family, I would appreciate any feedback on these articles. Some of the earlier genealogy appears to have a number of errors which I can correct with "Editor's comments."
