Wisconsin Death Records

Pre 1907 Death Index. FHL microfiche 6331472.
Frank Clover, died 5 April 1898, Shawano County, Wisconsin, Volume 1, page 193.
According to the information on the actual death record, he was born 2 November 1840 in Germany.  His father was Frank, mother unknown. His wife was Carrie and he died in the town of Hartland.

Frank Clover's obituary appears on Rootsweb.com, in the Shawano County section: T. Klover, (died 1898) Shawano County (Wisconsin) Journal, issue dated Thursday 14 April 1898: Note the discrepancy in the initial and the spelling of the last name. The timing is such that this very likely is the same person. Note that in the censuses I have added below, there are some Clovers and some Klovers.
"T. Klover, a respected citizen of our town died last week of cancer of the stomach.  Mr. Klover leaves a wife and several large boys besides a number of very small children to mourn his death."

Another obituary appeared in the Shawano County Advocate on page 8, column one, dated 14 April 1898: "Mr. Clover, who has been ailing for some time was buried at the Lutheran Cemetery last Friday."

I believe that the following individuals are part of his family:
I found no person in the 1880 index which seemed logically to be this T. AKA Frank Clover, born Germany, ca. 1840.  Nor is there a Catherine Clover who could logically be this person.  Either they married after 1880, they were missed in the census, or the name is different.

Obituary from the Burnett County Sentinel,  published in Grantsburg, Wisconsin
Steven Daniel Clover, age 65, of Grantsburg, passed away January 19, 2007 after a two-year struggle with multiple health problems. A funeral service with Military honors was January 24, 2007 at Grace Baptist Church in Grantsburg. Pastor Dan Slaikeu and Ken Hyatt officiated.
Steve was born March 6, 1941 to Daniel and Mary Clover in Sterling Township. Later the family moved to Rush City, MN where Steve attended school. As a young adult, he and his family moved back to Grantsburg.
He was in the Army and served in the Vietnam War. Steve was also self-employed for many years as an auto mechanic. For 25 years, he served the Grantsburg School District as a school bus contractor, driver and bus mechanic. Steve was a very dedicated bus driver who believed it was important to develop a relationship with the students who rode on his bus route. He had high work ethics, putting top priority in doing an excellent job at whatever he was working on.
He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. His passion was fishing on the St. Croix River with great expectations of catching an even bigger muskie on each fishing trip, to which he was very successful at doing.
Steve was also known for many years for playing his guitar and singing. Most recently, he was in the band “Play ‘N’ Country,” with whom he enjoyed performing with at local community events. He will be greatly missed.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Liela; daughters, Neci Johnson, Bartlesville, OK; Deana (Pat) Fulweiler, Pine City, MN; and Becky (Karl) Anderson, Grantsburg; son, Rocky Haraldson, New Glarus, WI; a brother, David (Minnie) Clover, Squaw Valley, CA; grandchildren, Danny, Jordan, Maggie, Jessie James, Kelsey, Ryan, Kara, Nathan, Rachel, Mariah, Brock, Kendra and Jacob; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

************************************************************************
John Holden (deceased) was born at Dowlingville, Pa., August 22, 1825, a son of Stephen and Polly (Shields) Holden.  When but eight years old he began to assist his stepfather in clearing up a farm, and received but little education.  He was married November 22, 1849, to Lucinda C. Clover, daughter of Philip and Fannie (Clugh) Clover.  Mrs. Holden was born October 25, 1832.  Eight children have blessed their union: Stephen C., now of Montour, Iowa, born April 25, 1851; Philip R., born February 5, 1853, died September 26, 1856; Emma L. (Mrs. I. H. Milliren), October 3, 1855; Corydon J., August 19, 1858, died October 19, 1886; Hyla J. E. (Mrs. L. B. Leflay), November 18, 1861; James E., June 16, 1863, died August 16, 1863; Fannie B. (Mrs. W. H. Biles), March 27, 1868; Evan C., May 6, 1874, died August 24, 1874.  In the spring of 1853 Mr. Holden sold out and removed to Pepin, Wis., where he built the third house in the village.  Soon afterward he purchased a farm on which he resided most of the time until 1876, when he sold out and removed to Tama county, Iowa.  Returning to Pepin in 1878, he purchased another farm in sections eleven and fourteen, township twenty-three, range fifteen.  In 1887 he returned to the village of Pepin, where his death occurred February 25, 1889, after a lingering illness.
Mr. Holden was a miller by trade, which business he followed for a number of years in Pepin and Kinnikinnick, Wis., where the family lived in 1866-67.  For several years previous to his death he worked as a mason and bricklayer, and erected several of the best buildings in the village and town.  In politics Mr. Holden was an active republican, although never aspiring to hold office.  He was for thirty years a member of the Methodist church.  Industrious and strictly honorable in business, he led a peaceable, unostentatious life, which won the respect of the whole community in which he lived.
