Florence Elizabeth May (nee Clover ) was born Tuesday, February 19, 1918 in Leasburg, Missouri to the late John George Clover and Julia Elizabeth Woods Clover and departed this life Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at the Gibbs Care Center Nursing Home in Steelville, Missouri at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 25 days.        
        Florence married Adrain Mervel May on October 12, 1940 in Steelville, Missouri and to this union two daughters were born.Florence was a lifelong resident of Crawford County; she was very active in community service throughout her life. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW Post #6479 where she
 served as president for many years and was known to many as the poppy lady selling poppies to everyone who crossed her path. She was a member of the Steelville Extension Club, Women's Bowling League, she bowled on leagues in Cuba, Sullivan, and Steelville, winning numerous trophies, she bowled on the television show Bowling For Dollars, she served as adminstrix for several elderly people down through the years. Florence worked for L. B. Price for many years selling household items from her car on her routes throughout Crawford County.Florence accepted the Lord many years ago and was formerly a member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church, and a current member of the Potosi Presbyterian Church. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Adrain, two daughters, Patricia Ann Payne, and Audrey Lee Stacy, five brothers Albert Stout, Charles Stout, Thomas Stout, John Clover, and Bill  Clover.
 Those who remain to mourn her passing are her loving grandchildren Jerry Payne and wife Susan of Charleston, Illinois; Mary Locke and husband Brad of Ellisville, Mo.; Angie Simerda and husband Frank of O'Fallon, Mo.; James Payne and wife Anita of Houston, Texas; John Stacy and wife Lois of Salem, Mo.; Sandy South and husband Jeff of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Michael Stacy and wife Anna of Bunker, Mo.; and Mary Mae Stacy of O'Fallon, Mo.; her son-in-laws William "Bill" Payne and wife Sharon of Steelville, Mo.; and Oscar Stacy of Bunker, Mo.; one brother Percy Clover of Raleigh, North Carolina; and sister-in-law Georgia Clover of Steelville, Mo.; nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends all who will sadly miss and fondly remember Florence Elizabeth May. Visitation was held Friday, October 17, 2003 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral Services for
 Florence Elizabeth May was held Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Mo. with Rev. Delmar B. Hutson officiating. Jerry and James Payne, Mary Locke and Edna Slape sang "It Is Well With My Soul," "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus," and "He Is Lord," accompanied by Valerie Hutson on piano. Angie Simerda and Mary Mae Stacy read Eulogies. Her eight grandchildren honored her as pallbearers, and her great-grandchildren handed out poppies to all present at the service. Everett Joseph Clover, 43, of Piedmont, Missouri, died July 6, 2003, at his home.
        Born Dec. 20, 1959, in St. Louis, he was the son of Everett L. Clover and Dorothy DeClue Clover. He had worked for Worley Log and Lumber Company and had lived in Piedmont for several years. He was married to Kathleen Sisson at Piedmont. He was an active member of Harvest Baptist Church and loved his family and church family.
        He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.   
        Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; his mother, Dorothy Clover of Piedmont; eight children: Crystal McKay and her husband, Andrew, of Nashville, Tenn., Jacqueline, Jennifer, Jeanette and Everett Clover, all of Piedmont, and Jessica, Joshua and Joanne Clover, all of St. Louis; a brother, Rockie Clover of Garwood; two sisters:  Diane Soffner of New Florence, Mo., and Pam Sallee of Piedmont; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Tedo and Don Manley of Cherokee Village; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Everett L. Clover.

    Funeral Services for Victor Clover Will Be Monday Funeral services for Victor E. Clover, 83, Washington, will be held Monday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Washington. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 30, from 3-8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Washington. The V.F.W. will pay respects at 7 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Clover died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Carrie Clover; one son, Carl Clover and wife Rhonda Stockglausner, Washington; two daughters, Sharen Hoeft and husband Gene, Marthasville, and Sandra Roetheli and husband Bob, Washington; one brother, Dewey G. Clover and wife Dorothy, Foristell; three sisters, Dorothy Weiskopf and husband Jim, Lake Saint Louis; Ruth Marquart, Washington; and Betty Steusse and husband Bob, Beaufort; three grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Maxine E. Ryan of Hillcrest Care Center, Desoto, Missouri, died December 18, 2003, at the age of 78 years.  Maxine was born in Jefferson City, Missouri on February 18, 1925.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Clover and Effie Lee (nee Carrow) Clover Maness and her husband, Bobby Allen Ryan.
    Maxine E. Ryan is survived by; three sons, Wayne Newenham of DeSoto, Mo, Mark (Deanna) Ryan of DeSoto, MO and Allen (Delores Ryan of Paragould, Arkansas.  Three sisters; Mae Martin, DeSoto, MO, Norma Price, DeSoto, MO, and Betty Kite, DeSoto, MO.  Two brothers; Don Clover, Dallas, Texas and Price Clover, DeSoto, MO.
    She was preceded in death by; two sisters, Theda Clover and Beulah Hubbard and two brothers, Billy and Giles Clover.
    Five grandchildren survive her; Ben Newenham, Steve Ryan, Marissa Ryan, Brendan Ryan, and Spencer Ryan and one great grandchild, Shawnee Newenham.
    Maxine was a homemaker and also volunteered for years with the American Red Cross.
    Visitation will be Saturday, December 20, 2003, from four to eight pm, at the Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., DeSoto, MO.  Graveside service will be Sunday, December 21, 2003 at 2 pm in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Walcott, Arkansas, with the Rev. Sam Stewart, officiating.

        Marjorie Clover Riggle, 82, of St. Charles, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, in St. Charles. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, in Baue Funeral and Memorial Center in St. Charles. Burial will be in St. Charles Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to SSM Cancer Center in St. Charles.
        Mrs. Riggle was an inspector for Bussman Fuse. She was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Benton, to Herbert J. and Nellie Rose Griffith. She married Clifford C. Clover.
        She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Irene Clover of St. Charles, Russell Lee and Pam Clover of O'Fallon, Mark D. and Helen Clover of Ft.         Ruah Opal Clover, 89, daughter of George and Lucy Martin Stewart, was born March 6, 1916, at Raymondville. She died Nov. 16, 2005, after suffering a massive stroke Oct. 18 and being flown to St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
She married John Clover Oct. 31, 1936, at Houston. They made their home in the Raymondville area and had nine children.
        Mrs. Clover attended the Wildwood Church, where she gave her heart to the Lord in 1954 and was baptized.
She like raising a garden, reading and cooking. She loved family get-togethers.
After the death of her husband, she moved to Kansas City, where most of her children lived. She attended Belton Assembly for 20 years.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, three sisters; three sons, Jerry, Don and and Jim; and two daughters, Ruby and Barb.
        Surviving are three daughters, Jane Hill of Licking, Louise McColgin of Raymondville and Joann Ring of Belton; one son, Johnny of Ash Grove; 19 grandchildren 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Nov. 21 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with David Meade officiating. Burial was in the Friendship Cemetery.

    Percy Edward Clover, 87, of Raleigh, North Carolina, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at Raleigh Community Hospital. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24 at Renaissance Funeral Home of Raleigh, 7615 Six Forks Road.
        Born in Granite City, Illinois, Mr. Clover is the son of the late John George Clover and Julia Elizabeth Woods Clover. He grew up in Missouri and lived most of his life in Michigan. Mr. Clover was a US Army veteran of World War II and retired from General Motors Company after over 30 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Mr. Clover is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Irene Clover and by a granddaughter, Rebecca Marie Clover.
        Mr. Clover is survived by his son, Michael J. Clover and wife Peggy of Raleigh, by grandchildren, Julie Elizabeth Clover of Washington, D.C.,  Sarah Michelle Clover of Providence, RI, John Michael Clover of El Cajon, California, by sister-in-law Mary Isabella Ramsey of Raleigh, sister-in-law Geargia Clover of Steelville, Mo.

She married Wallace Clover in 1949 in Akron, Ohio. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Clover graduated from Akron University with a Bachelor's degree in elementary education and earned a Master's degree in Reading from Webster Groves University in St. Louis. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Lambda Chapter for more than 50 years. She was an avid reader, Cardinal fan, bird lover, and crossword puzzle enthusiast. She is survived by three daughters, Peg Clover Stipek (Michael) of Denver, Colorado, Patty Clover (Scott Nirmaier) of Columbia and Cathy Seltsam (Robert) of Columbia; five grandchildren, Sean, Eva, Bruce, Sarah and Rory; her two great-grandchildren, Arlo and Olive; many nephews, and one sister, Margaret Garver Hufford of St. Louis.         Earl Franklin Clover, 88, of Wheaton, Missouri formerly of Monett, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in Monett.
        He was married to Helen Roach on March 9, 1942, and she survives. He was retired from Conoco Oil. He was also a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran.
        Funeral services were held on Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Purdy with Rev. Tony Martin officiating. Burial was at the Purdy Cemetery.

    Erie - - L. Margaret LaRue, 85 a former resident of Erie, died Wednesday, August 21, 1991, at Independence Regional Health Center, Independence, Missouri, following an extended illness.
    The daughter of Josephus and Rosannah Newman Clover, she was born July 5, 1906, on the family farm in Neosho County, Kansas.  She attended Cremona School and two years at Chanute High School.
    L. Margaret Clover married Theodore LaRue June 27, 1926, in the home of her parents.  Following the wedding the couple went to western Arizona where LaRue taught school for two years.  The later lived in Lucas, Junction City, Yates Center, and Altoona, Kansas then moved to Erie, Kansas in 1950.  Her husband died June 21, 1987.
    A homemaker, she lived in Independence, Missouri since 1984.  She was a member of Erie Federated Church and Westminister Presbyterian Church of Independence.
    Survivors include a son, Joe N. LaRue, Billings, Montana; a daughter, Jean E. Riddle, Independence, Missouri; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two daughters.
    Funeral is at 10 a.m. Saturday at Erie Federated Church, the Rev. Lee Wiersma officiating.  Burial will be in Shaw Cemetery.
    The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Johnson Mortuary.

Harry Clover
    Harry Junior Clover of St. James, Mo., passed away on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Mo. after a 31-year battle with five different cancers. He was 74 years of age.
    Harry Clover was born on Nov. 10, 1934, to his parents: Harry Franklin and Lena Mae (Basham) Clover in Aurora, Mo. He was united in marriage to Eleonora Johanna Schattauer in Ulm, Germany, on April 9, 1959.  To this union one daughter was born.
    Harry Clover is survived his wife of 50 years, Eleonora, of the home in St. James; daughter: Mary Lee Clover of Jefferson City, Mo.; two brothers: Clifford Clover and wife Joan of Harrisburg, Ark. and Lee W. Clover and wife Anita of St. James; three nieces, Karen Wild and husband Rick of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Deana Branton and husband Chris of Baton Rouge, La.; and Kimberly Stewart and husband Jason of Truman, Ark.; and numerous other relatives and friends in America, Germany and Austria. He will be greatly missed by his beloved dogs; Mindy and Misty.
        Preceding Harry Clover in death are his parents: Harry Franklin and Lena Mae (Basham) Clover; and one brother: John Clover and sister-in-law: Laura Clover.
        Graveside military services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at the Ozark Memorial Gardens in Rolla.
    Memorial may be made to Cancer Society or Tri-County Humane Society.

Dr. Jules Felix Vale, born St. Louis, 28 December 1859, married Mary M. Clover in 1881. She was the daughter of Judge H. A. Clover, John - died September 14, 1896 at his home on Sandy Creek, age unknown. He leaves a wife and child, and a father, brothers and sisters to mourn his death.

Clover, Mary Ann - died January 27, 1882, of cancer, at the age of 47. She was married to John Clover of Belews Creek.

Clover, Michael - son of John Clover, father of William and Walter Clover, born October 2, 1853, died at his home near Cedar Hill on February 4, 1917. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two grandsons. He was buried in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

 

[Book II, Page 24]Hamilton, Lottie E. - died on January 27, 1909 at her home in Springfield, Mo.. She was a former resident of Jefferson County, and the only surviving sister of Michael Clover. She leaves a family of children, the youngest being a boy of twelve years. (March 4, 1909)



PAULINE COPLIN  "Copeland" CLOVER, formerly of Anna, IL  daughter of George Washington Coplin "Copeland" was born Dec. 01,1914 in Alexander County and died Monday Feb 17, 1986 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau at the age of 71 years.
        Mrs. Clover married Lyman Clover in 1932. She lived in Cape Girardeau for several years but was formerly a resident of  Anna, Illinios. Mrs Clover was a member of the Valley Mission Church.
        Survivors include four sons, Lee Gibson of Jonesboro Illinois, Delbert Clover of Anna Ill, and Larry and Donald Clover of Jonesboro, Ill; two daughters, Dorothy Aline Cook of Avilla, Mo and Charolett Burton of Crivitz, Wis; 30 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Coplin Raines of McClure, Ill, Gladys Coplin Sweet,of Stonefort, Ill and Juanita Coplin Woods of Cape Girardeau Mo.
        Funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb 20, (1986) at 1:30 pm in the Chapel of Norris & Son Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev Cletus McLane officiating. Interment was in Casper Cemetery, Anna Illinois.  --Contributed by Mary Grimes.
