Wednesday, December 14, 1927: Death of Frank S. Clover
Frank Spencer Clover, aged 79 years, died Monday morning, December 12,
at his home, 149 Monroe Street, after an illness of several months. Mr.
Clover was very well known in this community where he had made his home
for many years, and where he had a wide circle of friends. For 25 years
he was head carpenter at the Michigan Home and for an equal number of
years a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. Born December 30,
1848, in the township of Lenox, Madison county, NY, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Spencer Clover. In 1850, when he was two years old, he came to
Michigan with his parents. They settled on a farm two miles west of
this city in Elba Twp. Frank lived at home with them until 1874 when he
married Miss Nancy Pike of Lapeer and moved onto a farm one mile south
of the old homestead of his father, and still owns this place which is
now occupied by his son, Irving. This son, William Irving, was born
August 25, 1888. On Christmas Day, 1925, Mr. and Mrs. Clover celebrated
the 50th anniversary of
their wedding with elaborate festivities at their Monroe Street home.
At this time a company of 200 friends and relatives were present to
witness the renewed plighting of their marriage vows. Mr. Clover is
survived by his wife; son Irving; two grandchildren Frank Leon and
Nancy Jane Clover; three sisters, Mrs. Eunice Merritt and Mrs. Etta
Colvin of Luzerne and Mrs. Tom Harmon of Elba, and a brother, Charles

lodge of which Mr. Clover was a member for 27 years.
Mrs. Frank Clover obituary was published 4 December 1930 pg 8 col 3. I don't have the name of the newspaper. Nancy Pike was married to Frank S. Clover. Thanks to Carol Shank for this obituary.
