Iowa State Census Records Do not skip these. They have a lot of information.  For example, the 1925 state census lists parents.

    State and Territorial Censuses of Iowa 1836 to 1925
    
        Iowa was part of the Louisiana Territory in 1803.  When the Missouri Territory was formed in 1812, it included what is now Iowa.  When Missouri became a state in 1821, its boundaries did not include Iowa.  Iowa had no government from 1821 until it became part of the Michigan Territory in 1834, and then part of the Wisconsin Territory in 1836. The Territory of Iowa was formed in 1838, and it became a state in 1846. There were many state and territorial censuses taken to supplement the US Federal Censuses. The earliest territorial census was taken in 1836 although the first Clover did not appear until 1851.   

State and Territorial Censuses

        I am not aware of any earlier Clovers in Iowa Territorial or State Censuses.  Please let me know if you find one, but I think that this is all there is.  There are several Glovers indexed as Clovers.  Most of these censues were abstracted from Ancestry.  Ancestry does NOT say which county records survived and which ones are included in the database. Ancestry also has two databases for this.  Some have an image of the original record and some do not. You should check back on Ancestry because they may add material.

1851
There were territorial censuses taken in Iowa as early as 1836.  This is a tremendous source of data which is sadly not available in all states.  The earliest one in which a  Clover appears is 1851:
Mahaska County, Iowa Oskaloosa Township, page 3, entry number 77: David M. Clover  There were two members of his household.  No other information was given.

1925 Iowa State Census
I did not extract this myself and I can see that there are several spelling errors.  There is additional information in this census including place of marriage of parents and age at last birthday of parents. This is a very important census because it is the only census I know of which lists the names of parents.  If you see a name here that is yours, I urge you to look at the actual census.  I can also see that this is incomplete.  There are counties which were omitted.
