    Philip Clover was born on January 28, 1829,(1) in Vermillion County, Illinois and died on June 19, 1900 and is buried in Roundgrove Cemetery, Livingston County, Illinois.(2)  Philip Clover married Arvilla Currier on March 18, 1854, Grundy County, Illinois.(3)  Arvilla Currier was born September 2, 1834 in Greenville, Pennsylvania to John and Anna (Robinson) Currier.(4) According to the Illinois State Death Index, she died 27 April 1917, Emington, Livingston County, Illinois.

Round Grove Township:
Philip Clover, farmer and stock raiser, Sec 2 and 3, PO Gardner; is a pioneer of this county.  He was born in Vermillion County, Indiana, 26 January 1829, removed with his parents to Illinois in 1844, locating in Grundy county; at the age of 21, he began for himself with no means but his hands and a firm will, and through his energy, industry and economy has accumulated a good property; he came to Livingston County in 1852 and has assisted in all public matters pertaining to the interest of the town.   He owns 350 acres of land, valued at $40 per acre upon which is a grove of about forty acres, and a fine residence.  He married Miss Arvilla Currier of Mercer County, Pennsylvania, 15 March 1850.  She was born 2 September 1834; they are parents of six children–Emerson J, born 12 December 1854; Sarah J., born 14 September 1856; Amos W., born 3 May 1858; Elmer E. born 7 March 1860; Lewis P., born 19 October 1863; Flora E., born 16 November 1868.

1. Emerson John Clover, born 12 December 1854 (5) in Roundgrove Township, Livingston County, Illinois and died August 1926. He married Alice Decker on January 15, 1889. (6)

2. Sarah Jane Clover born on September 14, 1856(6) in Broughton Township, Livingston County, Illinois and died November 16, 1939.  Sarah Clover married Uriah Shelly 3 April 1879.(7 )  Uriah Shelly was born on March 8, 1858 and died August 5, 1937.  His parents are Malachi and Lavinia (Shelly) Shelly.

Children of Uriah and Sarah Jane Clover Shelly:
i) Barton E. Shelly was born January 14, 1880.  Barton married Bertha Wilson.  Barton and Bertha (Wilson) Shelly‘s children are:
Wayne Shelly born on January 2, 1906 no further information
Elmer Eugene Shelly born on March 26, 1881 and married Lillian (?).  Elmer and Lillian Shelly’s children are:

ii) Theodore Shelly born on April 25, 1882 and married Evelyn Taylor on June 28, 1911.  Evelyn Taylor was born on April 25, 1885.
iii) Lyle Maynard Shelly son of Sarah Jane and Uriah was born on May 6, 1889 and died on December 5, 1918.  Lyle married Leila Wilson on July 15, 1916 and they had one child, Dale Shelly.
iv) Jessie Flora Shelly daughter of Sarah Jane and Uriah was born on August 7, 1890 and married Oscar G. Thompson on January 1, 1913.  Oscar was born on December 8, 1888.

Howard Shelly born on April 1, 1916 and married Helen McGee Dunham on August 24, 1938. 
 Children of Howard and Helen McGee Dunham Shelly:

Children of Oscar and Jessie Flora Shelly Thompson:
Donald S. Thompson born on September 8, 1913 and married Mary B. Bell on October 26, 1945.  Mary B. Bell was born on December 5, 1919.
    The child of Donald and Mary Bell Thompson is John Thompson born on January 23, 1949.
Lyle D. Thompson son of Oscar and Jessie Flora Shelly Thompson was born on July 8, 1919.
Phyllis A. Thompson daughter of Oscar and Jessie was born on November 11, 1925.  Phyllis married Elmer E. Hinda on May 18, 1943.

3. Amos William Clover, born May 5, 1858.(9) He died 1945.
Amos Clover married Emma Ophelia Leopold on February 18, 1885.  Emma Leopold was born to Samuel and Sarah Ann Worts Leopold on July 4, 1867, in Cabary, Illinois. (10)

iv) Clarence Edward Clover born August 3, 1888 married Zella Bartholio on October 28, 1913.  Zella was born February 10, 1890.

 1.  First born, Clarence Edward Clover, Jr. born July 22, 1914.  Clarence married Marjorie Fay LaCore on April 4, 1936.  Marjorie was born to Fay and Adele Huss LaCore on March 18, 1913.
2. Blanche Lee Clover born January 27, 1916.  Blanche married Treasure Francis Pickles on July 18, 1936.  Treasure Francis Pickles was born to Frank C. and Alice Treasure Pickles on May 7, 1913.  Alice married Mr. Strout after Franks’ death.
3. Dorothy Leta Clover born June 5, 1922.  Dorothy married John Reibert on April 12, 1942.  John Reibert was born to John and Beatrice Whiteside Reibert on March 28, 1921.  
4. Marjorie Irene Clover born August 26, 1930.  Marjorie married Lloyd William Pfeifer on November 23, 1950.  Lloyd Pfeifer was born to Lloyd William and Alelia Noth Pfiefer on October 10, 1926.

4. Elmer Ellsworth Clover, born March 7, 1860.(11) Elmer E. Clover married Lavina Shelly, 25 December 1880, Livingston County, Illinois. (12)  They are buried in 
Roundgrove Cemetery, Livingston County, Illinois.   Lovina Shelly was born to Malachi and Lovina Shelly on February 29, 1860 in Livingston County, Illinois. Lovina Clover was born 29 February 1860, Round Grove Township, Livingston County, Illinois, daughter of Malachi and Lovina Shelly, both born Pennsylvania.  She died 13 December 1945, Dwight Village, Livingston Residence, spouse Elmer Clover. i) Frank Ervin Clover born July 22, 1861, Reddick, Livingston County, Illinois.  Frank Clover married Hattie Ether Brownsay on October 1, 1902 in Dwight, Illinois.  Hattie Brownsay was born April 6, 1883.  Frank and Hattie’s children are:

1. Ervin Clarence Clover born November 14, 1903 Reddick, Illinois.  Ervin married Evelyn Eunice Rieko, June 20, 1923 in Reddick, Illinois.

Eugene Clover, born 3 February 1915, Aurora, Illinois, died 27 January 2000, Manhatten, Kansas.  He served in WW II and there are some pictures of him on the WW II page on this site.
Obituary: Topeka (Kansas) Capital-Journal, The, Jan 29, 2000   WESTMORELAND --- Eugene L. "Gene" Clover, 84, Westmoreland, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at a Manhattan hospital. Mr. Clover was a machinist for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita for 20 years, and he worked for Hesston Manufacturing Corp. in Hesston for three years before he retired. He also was a 20-year veteran of the Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Reserves. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was discharged at the rank of sergeant.
        He was born Feb. 3, 1915, in Aurora, Ill., the son of William and Anna Vaughn Clover. He graduated from Glendale High School in Glendale, Calif. He moved to Westmoreland in 1972.
        Mr. Clover was a member of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church, and Post No. 186 of the American Legion and the Community Service Club, both in Westmoreland. He also was a member of the Marine Corps League.
        He married Rae Deane Fairchild on May 17, 1944, in Oakland, Calif. She survives.
        Other survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Clover, Burns, and Kristen Moorefield, Wichita; two brothers, Homer Clover, Bervard, N.C., and Robert Clover, Titusville, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Westmoreland United Methodist Church. Burial with full military honors will be in Westmoreland City Cemetery. Mr. Clover will lie in state from noon to 4 p.m. today and after 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Visitation will be from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
        Memorial contributions may be made to the Westmoreland United Methodist Church, the American Heart Association or to the American Lung Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
