Philip Carrier Clover of Clarion County, Pennsylvania

This article was originally published in the Clover Family Chronicles, Spring 2007, Issue 5, page 202.  The article is copyrighted 2005 by June Clover Byrne.  Note that numbers in ( ) refer to endnotes.  If you share this article with someone, please share the URL. I make changes to these pages often and that way, your cousin will be able to get the latest information.

At last count, I was trying to keep several dozen Philip Clovers straight in my head. This is one of them. Philip C. was the son of Philip Clover, grandson of Philip Clover and he had a son and grandsons named Philip Clover.  Unless otherwise noted, the obituaries quoted were sent by a volunteer who did not send the name of the newspaper.

Note: Philip Carrier4 Clover (Philip3, Philip2, John Peter1 Clover).  If you are a connection of this Philip, please contact me.  I would like to know more about this group.

Philip Carrier Clover was born in 1846, died 1919, buried in the Carrier Cemetery in Clover Township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania between his first and second wives, Agnes and Anna.(1)  Philip married (1st) Agnes Blanche Reese, born ca. 1853. Agnes was born in Armstrong county, Pennsylvania, died 10 January 1894, aged 40 years, of consumption, in Limestone Township, Clarion County, Pennsylvania.(2) Philip married (2nd) Anna Charlotte Weber, ca. 1909.  She died 2 May 1917 per her obituary. She was born in 1861 and was buried in the same cemetery with Philip and his first wife.(3)
According to a message sent by Jim Corbett, Agnes was born 6 November 1853, married 27 December 1871, died 10 March 1894.  I don't know if there is a mistake in the vital records or if there is a mistake in the family records.  Note also that the supposed son, Albert, died 17 April 1894, aged two months.  I am not sure what is wrong here, but will include all dates.  If someone has access to this Clarion County vital Records microfilm, perhaps it should be checked again.
I have a birth date from an unknown source of 17 November 1846 for Philip which includes his middle name. All other sources have Philip C.

Mr.Weber was born in Germany and came to Americia fifty-seven years ago.Upon landing in New York he decided to try living in the city and so spent the first two years on American soil in New York. He came to Jefferson county,Pa.,where he purchased some land and began at once the work of making the place habitable, for in those days the land was unsettled. Here he lived the remaining years of his life, during which time he married twice and reared five children.
His surviving children are: John,Thomas and Miss Annie Weber, all at home; George Weber of Cambria County; Joseph Weber of California.
