Instructions
on how to get a copy of a SS
application
To
get copies of old Civil War Pension Records which are still held by the
Veteran's Administration, you have to request them from the regional offices
closest to you. Some of them were not turned over to NARA because they
were still active when the turnover was made. So the VA has some Civil
War Pension Records as well as NARA. You have to have the numbers from the
pension record index. Send all the numbers including the number
in the remarks section that starts with an X or XC. http://www.vba.va.gov/ro/ro_inter.htm
The
one for Florida is wrong. You have to write to: VA Regional Office,
PO Box 1437, St. Petersburg, FL 33731.
