Clover Family Research Compendium

Pennsylvania 1850 and 1860 Census Records

This article on the 1850 census was originally published in the Clover Family Chronicles, Spring 2004, Volume 1, Issue 5, pages 122 to 124.

I get confused by so many John’s, Philip’s, and Paul’s, that I feel like I need a scorecard myself, so I thought you might like one also. Consequently, I added the information in the brackets to help you identify the groups.

The following two entries are indexed as Clovers. The name looks more like Clouer to me, but I can’t be absolutely sure. I am erring on the side of caution and including them.

Pennsylvania 1860

Again, because there are so many Johns, Philips etc in this family, I have made brief notes as to the antecedents of the family groups where I have that information. In some cases, I am relying on what information I have been given and it would be possible for that to be wrong.  If so, please let me know.
