Marriage Records

I am printing Clark County Clover marriage records from two sources. I have used primarily the McLane book because it includes the name of the person who did the marriage. However, the Source Book covers a different set of years. So both are here. When the information in the two is different, I have noted this, but I did not repeat the same marriages as I thought it was unnecessary.

Clark County Marriage Records through 1900

The most accessible source for marriages is “Clark County Marriage Records through 1900,” Clark County, Arkansas, A Genealogical Source Book, Volume 1, compiled by Pauline Williams Wright and Barbara McDow Caffee, (Baltimore, Maryland: Gateway Press, Inc.). This resource is in two volumes, but the marriages are in volume 1. Both volumes are available on microfiche from the LDS at any Family History Center for nominal charges.

I requested a marriage look up in Sevier County, Arkansas. The person who responded said that she had searched several marriage record books and the only Clover marriage was:

Clover, Bettie J., 19 & Isaac M. Young, 22 by A. J. Park, JP on 26 March 1868.

The same person indicated that the Sevier Family History Book published in 1984 has a note about Demecia (Mecia) ( born 1874, Clark County.). “Aunt Mecia married Josiah Manly Clover.”

The following two marriages are from the North America Vital Records Index on CD available at any LDS FHC. These records are not searchable on line at www.familysearch.org.

I. J. Clover ageed 22, wife: M. E. Goff aged 18, married 25 March 1879, Logan County, Arkansas. FHL no. 1027136 [I am told that this may be T. J. Clover.]

David D. Miller age 22, wife: Mariah J. Clover age 18, married 13 December 1857, Columbia County, Arkansas. FHL no. 0988808
