     Mary Rafferty was born circa 1857 in Ohio.¹ She was the daughter of John Rafferty and Ann Ross.¹ Mary, age 3, was enumerated in the household of her parents on the 1860 Federal Census in Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio.¹ Follow the link to see the census image. Mary, age 13, was enumerated in the household of Anna and Thomas Rafferty (her sister-in-law and brother) on the 1870 Federal Census in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio. Her mother and several siblings were also enumerated here.² Follow the link to see the census image. Mary married Alfred Chinn between 1875 and March 1880 in Lawrence County, Ohio.³
          Alfred, age 33, and Mary, age 23, were enumerated on the 1880 Federal Census in Ironton. Also enumerated in this household was their son, Alfred, age 2 months.⁴ Follow the link to see the census image. Mary died on 29 May 1905 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.⁵ She was 48 old.
