Last Edited=21 May 2005 ![]() Clara DeYoung Dalenberg in about 1920 Clara married Nicolas Dalenberg, son of Pieter Dalenberg and Lijntje Vanderszijde, on 19 September 1878 in Dodge, Dodge County, Minnesota.1 Clara and Nicolas had 9 children. These children are Lyna, Bert, Peter, Minnie, Katie, Jennie, Nellie, Russell and Alice Bertha. Nicolas, age 24, and Clara, age 25, were enumerated on the 1880 Federal Census in Hayfield, Dodge County, Minnesota. Also enumerated in this household was Charles Tarbel, a school teacher.3 Follow the link to see the census image. Nicolas, age 44, and Clara, age 45, were enumerated on the 1900 Federal Census in Vernon Township, Dodge County, Minnesota. Also enumerated in this household were 6 of their children: Peter, age 16, Minnie, age 14, Katy, age 12, Jonny (Note: I think this should be Jenny - see notes in the document), age 10, Nellie, age 8, and Bertha (known later as Alice), age 6. They own their farm without a mortgage. They have been married 21 years. Clara has given birth to 8 children but only 7 are still living (Bert died in 1896 at the age of 14).4 Follow the link to see the census image. Nick and Clara, age 54, were enumerated on the 1910 Federal Census in Vernon Township. Also enumerated in this household were 6 children: Peter (age 26), Minnie (age 24), Jinnie (age 20), Nellie (age 18), Bertha (also known as Alice, age 16) and Russel H. (age 6). 55.5 Follow the link to see the census image. Nick, age 64, and Clara, age 66, were enumerated on the 1920 Federal Census in Vernon Township. Also enumerated in this household was their son, Russell, age 16.6 Follow the link to see the census image. Circa 1940, Clara and Nicolas moved to Waterville, Le Sueur County, Minnesota.2 Clara died on 17 October 1943 in Waterville.2 She was 88 old. The cause of death was from "chronic magocarditis."
