Alice McDermott was born in August 1884 in Kentucky.2 She was the daughter of John McDermott and Bridget Clabby.1 She was the, daughter of John McDermott and Bridget Clabby. Her name has also been given as Alice Patricia McDermott.1 Alice, age 15, was enumerated in the household of her sister, Maggie, and brother-in-law, John Frank, on the 1900 Federal Census at 521 Abigail Street in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. Alice married Bernard William Macke, son of Johann Clemens Macke and Elisabeth Voll, circa 1907. He was 24 and she was 20.4 Alice and Bernard had 5 children. These children are George Bernard, William, Albert, Ethel Rose and Francis Bernard.
William, age 28, and Alice, age 24, were enumerated on the 1910 Federal Census at 517 E. 12th Street in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. Alice, age 34, was enumerated on the 1920 Federal Census at 515 Paxontion (?) Alley in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. Also enumerated in this household two of her five children, William and Ethel. George and Albert were living in St. Joseph's Orphanage. Alice, age 40, was enumerated on the 1930 Federal Census at 1717 Sycamore in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. Also enumerated in this household were her sons, William (age 21), Albert (age 17), and Frank (age 15). Alice died on 2 March 1954 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.10 She was buried at Old St. Joe's Cemetery in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.11 See a picture of the marker.
