     Emma Donaker was born on 20 December 1854 in Muskingum County, Ohio, USA.^1,2 She was the daughter of William Donaker and Sarah Shipley.¹ Emma, age 7, was enumerated in the household of her parents on the 1860 Federal Census in Jefferson Township, Muskingum County, Ohio, USA. Emma married Harper Lane on 1 April 1874 in Muskingum County, Ohio, USA.¹
          Harper, age 31, and Emma, age 25, were enumerated on the 1880 Federal Census in Dowden, Muskingum County, Ohio, USA. Also enumerated in this household were Emma's brother and sister, Mary (age 14) and John (age 19).⁴ Follow the link to see the census image. Emma and Harper had one daughter who before 1910, name is not known. They adopted a daughter, Elnora May.¹

          Harper, age 81, and Emma, age 75, were enumerated on the 1930 Federal Census in Dresden Village (Jefferson Township). They own their house which was valued at $2700.⁷ Harper died on 17 December 1937, leaving Emma a widow.¹ Circa November 1941, Emma was living in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio, USA.¹ Emma died on 7 February 1942 in Columbus.¹ She was 87 old. She was buried at Dresden Cemetery in Dresden, Muskingum County, Ohio, USA.¹
