  Beverley Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia To all To whom these presents shall Come Greeting Know ye that by Virtue and in Consideration of an Exchanged Land Office Treasury Warrant Number Two hundred Sixty nine Issued the third day of October One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty five There is Granted by the said Commonwealth unto Benjamin Butterworth assignee of Thomas Ramsay who was assignee of Robert Brown a Certain Tract or parcel of Land Containing One Hundred and forty acres by Survey bearing date the Ninth day of May One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Six lying and being in the County of Campbell on East branches of the South fork of Seneca Creek and Bounded as followeth To wit Beginning in Gilberts Road on a ridge on Hamesleys line thence along his line North forty six degrees West twelve poles to his Corner red oak on Hairstons Line thence along Hairstons Line South Seventy five degrees West One hundred and Sixty eight poles to his Corner Small hickory on Butterworths Line thence along Butterworths Line South thirty five degrees West One hundred and Ninety eight poles to his Corner Shrub White oak South two Degrees East forty two poles to Robert Brown Corner White oak thence along Browns Line North Eighty two degrees East Eighty Eight poles to Gilberts Road aforesaid on the said Ridge thence down the Road, the same being Ramseys line as it meanders to the Beginning With its appurtenances To have and To hold the Said Tract or parcel of Land with its Appurtenances to the said Benjamin Butterworth and his heirs forever In Witness whereof the Said Beverley Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and Caused the lesser Seal of the Said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the thirty first day of March in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Nine and of the Commonwealth the Thirteenth.
