This Indenture made this 13th day of February in the year of our Lord
one thousand Eight hundred and twenty Six Witnesseth that whereas by an
order of the Worshipfull County Court of Spencer County dated the 13th
day of February directing the clerk of the said Court to bind out John
Thomas Clements an infant orphan of William Clements decd of the age of
sixteen years the fifteenth day of march next for five years from the
tenth day of October 1825 unto Henry Pool to learn the art of a Blacksmith
Now I Raphael Lancaster Clerk of the Said Court do in obedience to said
Order as clerk and in Compliance with my duty as clerk hereto put and
bind the said John Thomas Clements unto him the said Henry Pool of the
County afsd. For the Term of five years from the 19th day of October 1825
all which time he the said apprentice his master shall faithfully serve
his secrets keep and his lawful commands gladly do and obey he shall not
waste nor embezzle his said Masters goods all cards dice and other unlawful
games he shall refrain from he shall not frequent Taverns nor ale houses
nor absent himself from his said Masters Services day or night without
leave from him first obtained and in all things demean and behave himself
as a faithful apprentice ought to do And the said Henry Pool in consideration
of Said apprentices Services doth hereby covenant to teach or cause to
be taught the Said apprentice the Art and mastery of a Black Smith and
to all on him during the time of his services afsd. Sufficient meat drink
washing lodging and apparel fit for him and to teach him Reading writing
and arithmetich to four as to include the Simple Rule of three and at
the expiration of his Servitude afsd. To give him a bellows and anvil
worth Sixty two dollars In Testimony wherof I the said Raphl. Lancaster
together with the said Henry Pool have hereunto set our hands and affixed
or seals the date within Written.
At a County Court held for Spencer County on Monday the 13th day of February 1826 this Indenture of apprenticeship was with the Consent and approbation of the Court executed and acknowledged by the parties and ordered to be Recorded
