This Indenture
made this [blank space] day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and fifteen Between James
Clement of the county of Barren and State of Kentucky of the one part
and John Overstreet of the County and state aforsd. of the other part Witnesseth
that for and in consideration of one hundred and eighty dollars to him in
hand paid at or before the execution of these presents the Receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledged have Granted bargained and sold and by these presents
do grant Bargain and Sell unto the said John Overstree his heirs and assigns
forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County
of Shelby on the waters of wolf run a branch of Brachears Creek containing
thirty Acres and bounded as follows to wit begining at a white oak sugar
tree and Honey locust on the bank of said run and at the mouth of a small
branch from thence up wolf said run as it meanders N 80 W 40 poles thence
57 W 20 thence N. 54 W. 20 thence N 45 W. 16 poles thence N 54 W 15 poles
to three sugar trees Corner to Mr. Gash thence with his line S 29 W 78 poles
to two beeches in said Gashes line and Corner to James
Clement thence South 87 E 131 poles to a sugar tree and white oak on
the declivity of a hill Corner also to said Clement
Thence N 6 E. 24 poles to the begining to have and to hold the said tract
or parcel of land with all the appertenances with the said John Overstreet
his heirs and assigns to their only proper use and behoof forever and the
said James Clement doth Covenant
promise and agree to and with the sd. John Overstreet his heirs executors
adms. and assigns that the said James
Clement his heirs Executors and Adms. shall warrant and forever defend
the sd. tract or parcel of land Containing thirty Acres with all the Appertenances
unto the said John Overstreet his heirs Executors adms. and assigns against
all and every person or persons whatsoev Lawfully Claiming or to clame the
same thirty acres of land with every thing belonging or in any wise appertaining
thereto in witness whereof the sd. James
Clement has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and date above written
signed sealed and acknowledged and delivered in presence of
State of Kentucky Barren County Stc I John W. Davis Dept. clk to the County Court for the afore.sd County being duly authorised by law to take and receive the acknowledgment thereof & proof of and admit to Record in my office deeds and other writings do hereby Certify that the within Indenture from James Clement & Patsy his wife to John Overstreet was this day duly acknowledged before me by the said Clement & wife to be their act and deed she the said Patsy being by me Examined privaly and apart from her said husband relinquished her right of dower in the land and premises in the said Indenture specified agreeable to an act of Assembly in such case made and provided In testimony wherof I have hereunto subscribed my name this 18th day of March 1815
