This Indenture
made this 18th day of March one Thousand eight hundred & fifteen between
James Clement and Patty his wife
of the County of Barren and State of Kentucky of the one part & William
Jewel of Shelby County & State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth
that the sd. James Clement and
Patty his wife for in consideration of sixty Dollars to them in hand paid
at or before the execution of these presents the receipt wheof is hereby
acknowledged we do covenant bargain and Sell unto the said Wm. Jewel his
heirs or assigns for ever a certain tract or parcel of land containg forty
acres Situate lying and being in the County of Shelby on the waters of Brashears
creek part of John Mays 2200 acre survey and bounded as follows to wit Begining
at two white oaks & sugartree Corner to James
Clement Runing thence South 58 E 79 poles to a dogwood and two beeches
thence N. 29. E. 81 poles to two Sugar trees in I Sham Gilberts line thence
N. 58 W 81 po. to a beach ash & horn beam on a small branch thence S.
29 W 79 po to the begining to have and to hold the said tract of land within
all the appertenances unto the said William Jewel his heirs and assigns
to there only proper use benefit & behoof for ever and the sd. James
Clement and Patty his wife doth covenant promise & agree to and
with the sd. William Jewel his heirs Executors and administrators or assigns
that the sd. James Clement and
Patty his wife will there Heirs Exectuors & adms. shall warrant and
for ever defend the sd. tract or parcel of land with all the appertenances
unto the said William Jewel his heirs Executors adms. and assigns against
all and every person or persons whatsoever lawfully Claiming or to claim
the same forty acres in witness whereof the said James
Clement and Patty his wife have hereunto set their hand and seal the
day and year first above written Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence
of
Barren County State of Kentucky Sct I John W. Davis Dept clk to the County Court for the aforesaid County being duly authorised by law to take and receive the acknowledgment and proof of and admit to Record in my office deeds and other writings do hereby certify that the within Indenture from James Clement and Patty his wife to Wm. Jewel was this day duly acknowledged before me by the said Clement and wife to be their act and deed she the said Patty being by me examined privately and apart from her said husband relinquished her right of dower in the land and premises in the said Indenture specified agreeable to law In testimony wherof I have hereunto subscribed my name this 18th day of March 1815
Shelby County Sct Clerks office April 17th 1815 This deed with the certificate thereon was produced to me in the office there upon the same was duly recorded
