This Indenture
Made this twelfth Day of December in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand
seven hundred and Eighty three Between Jesse Roberson of the County of Pittsylvania
of the one part and Frances Allen of the Same County of the other Part Witnesseth
that the said Jesse Robinson and Elizabeth his Wife for and in consideration
of the Sum of one hundred Pounds Current Mony of Virginia to him in hand
by the said Frances Allen the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and
thereof doth acquit and Discharge the said Frances Allen and by these presents
he the said Jesse Robinson and Elizabeth his Wife have granted Bargained
Aliened Enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these presents doth grant Bargain
Sell alien Enfeoff and Confirm unto the said Frances Allen his Heirs and
Assigns forever one Certain Tract or parcel of Land Situated lying and being
in the County of Pittsylvania on Strawbery Creek Containing by Estimation
one hundred and Sixty five acres be the same more or less Bounded as follows,
to wit, Beginning on the Bank of the Creek on a White Oak in Edward Longs
Line thence a strat Line to a Small Sower wood in Jonathan Thomass Line
thence along the said Thomas's line to a Small White Oak thence along the
said Thos.s Line to Pointers from thence to a large Red Oak in the head
of a Branch thence along Jos. Megihus Line to a new Corner on a white oak
thence a Straight new Line to a White Oak on a Ridge of Rocks thence a Straight
Line to a Small Gum on the Bank of the Creek thence up the Creek as it Meanders
to the first Station together with all Trees ways waters and Water Courses
Profits Commodities and appurtenances thereunto to the same belonging in
any wise appurtaining to him the said Frances Allen his Heirs Executors
Administrators To have and to hold the Tract of Land and Premises with the
appurtenances unto the said Frances Allen his Heirs and Assigns forever
and he the said Jesse Roberson and Elizabeth his Wife for themselves their
Heirs do Covenant and agree to and with the said Frances Allen that he the
said Jesse Roberson and Elizabeth his Wife the said Tract of Land and Premises
above mentioned unto the said Frances Allen his Heirs and assigns for ever
against the claim or claims of all and every person or Persons Whatsoever
shall & will Warrant and forever Defend by these presents In Witness
whereof the said Jesse Robinson and Elizabeth his Wife have hereunto set
their Hands & affixed their Seals the Day and year first above Written
Received of Frances Allen the Day & Date within mentioned the Sum of one hundred Pounds Current Money of Virginia it being the Consideration for the within Land and Premises as Witness my hand
At a Court held for Pittsylvania County the 16th Day of December 1783 The Within Indenture together with the receipt hereon indorsed was proved by the Oaths of the Witnesses thereto to be the acts and Deed of the within named Jesse Roberson & Elizabeth his Wife and the same was ordered to be Recorded By the Court
