  This Indenture made this fifth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine between Vincent Compton and Fanney his Wife of the County of Pittsylvania of the one part and Vachel Clement of the same County of the other part Witnesseth that the said Vincent Compton and Fanney his Wife for and in considerationof the sum of Seventy five pounds Current Money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Vachel Clement on or before the Sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof they do hereby adcknowledge hath granted, bargained and Sold, Aliened, Released and Confirmed unto the said Vachel Clement and to his heirs and Assigns for ever one certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situate lying and being in the said County of Pittsylvania on the Drafts of Squirrel and Byrd Creeks containing by Estimation Eighty three acres being the Land and Plantation whereon the said Compton now resides and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at a blown down Pine and Pointers in Terrys old Order line near the said Comptons fence thence along line run for Jno. Brooks South 26* E98 poles crossing a branch to a small Gum in the head of a bottom North 84* E34 poles to Pointers, thence along Compton and Rices new line North 18* East 182 poles to a red Oak in Lee Comptons line and along the same N 81* West 60 Poles to Pointers in Terry's Order line aforesaid and along the same South 37* West 124 poles to the first Station with all it's Appurtenances to have and to hold the said Land and Premises with all its Appurtenances unto the said Vachel Clement to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Vachel Clement his heirs and Assigns forever And the said Vincent Compton and Fanney his Wife for themselves their Heirs Exors Administrators doth oblige themselves by Virtue of these Presents to Warrant and defend the right of the said Land in fee simple alone of all Incumbrances unto the said Vachel Clement and to his heirs and Assigns for ever In Witness whereof the said Vincent Compton and Fanney his Wife hath hereunto set their hands and Seals the day and year first above written

This Indenture was presented in Court and proved by the Oaths of three of the Witnesses thereto to be the respective acts and deed of the within named Vincent Compton and Fanney his Wife Ordered that the same be Recorded
