This Indenture
made this Eighth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and ninety three Between Edward Lewis and Anne his Wife of the County
of Pittsylvania of the one part and Vachel
Clement of Pittsya. county of the other part Witnesseth that the said
Edward Lewis and Anne his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of Eighty
pounds to them in hand paid by the said Vachel
Clement the receipt whereof they doth hereby acknowledge hath Granted,
bargained and Sold Alien Enfeeffd and Confirmed and the Said Edward Lewis
and Anne his wife for themselves their Heirs, Executors and Adm.rs do by
these Presents Grant, bargain Sell alien Enfeoff and confirm unto the said
Vachel Clement his heirs &
c. for ever one certain tract or parsel of Land containing One hundred Acres
be the same more or less lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania on
White thorn Creek and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at the mouth
of the dry Branch on Jno. Marham's line Thence up the dry branch as it meanders
to where Isaac Coles line crosses the sd. branch, thence along Coles line
crossing Panther Creek to a corner hickory in said line, thence a new marked
line to a corner red oak on White thorn Creek, thence down the same as it
meanders to the beginning To have and to hold the said One hundred Acres
of Land in the bounds above mentined with all the appurtenances to the said
Vachel Clement and to his heirs
and assigns for ever And the said Edward Lewis and Anne his wife for themselves
their heirs Ex.rs and Adm.rs doth covenant and agree with the said Vachel
Clement that they the said Edward Lewis and Anne his Wife will warrant
and for ever defend the before granted Land and Premises to the said Vachel
Clement his heirs and assigns for ever against him the said Edward Lewis
his heirs & c. and from the claim and claims of all Person or Persons
whatsoever In Witness whereof the said Edward Lewis and Anne his wife hath
to these Presents set their hands and affixed their Seals the day and year
first above written.

The within Indenture was proved by the Oaths of three of the witnesses thereto
to be the acts and deed of the within named Edward Lewis and Nancy his wife
and the same was Ordered to be recorded By the Court
