  This Indenture made this the fourth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Seventy one Between John Abston of the Provence of South Carolina of the one part and Stephen Clement of Bedford County in Virginia of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Abston for and in Consideration of the Just and full Sum of forty five Pounds Current money of Virginia him in hand paid by the said Stephen Clement the Receipt whereof the said John Abston doth hereby acknowledge hath Given granted bargained and Sold and by these Presents doth give grant bargain Sell Deliver and Confirm to him the said Stephen Clement his heirs and assigns forever one Certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situate lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania in Virginia Containing three hundred acres more or less lying on both Sides of Strait Stone Creek formely pattent for Francis Pollard, and Bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at Willacks Corner Maple in the Low Grounds of the said Creek thence up and Down both sides of the said Creek Concluding the wide Low Grounds being part of the above mentioned Land their being part sold off with all and Singular the Priviledges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appurtaining To have and to hold the above Sold Land and Premises with all the appurtenances unto the said Stephen Clement his heirs & assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Stephen Clement his heirs and assigns forever against him the said John Abston his heirs or assigns and against the Claim and Demand of all other Persons Whatsoever Shall and will by these Presents Warrant and forever Defend In Witness whereof he the said Abston hath hereunto Set his hand and Seal the Day and year first above Written

Memorandum That on the Day and year first within mentioned Quiet and peacable Possession of the within mentioned Land and Premises was given & made by John Abston to Stephen Clement in presents of the Subscribing Wittness

Received the Just Sum of forty five Pounds Current Money of Virginia being accounted the Value of the within mentioned Land this the fourth day of Nov.r 1771 by me

This Indenture together with the Memorandum of Livery and Seizen and Receipt thereon indorsed was proved by the Oaths of three of the Witnesses hereto to be the acts and Deed of the above named John Abston and the same was ordered to be Recorded By the Court
