This Indenture made this ninth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Seventy one Between Josiah Sertain and Jacob Sertain of Pittsylvania County of the one part and James Clements of Bedford County of the other part Witnesseth that the said Josiah Sertain and Jacob Sertain for and in Consideration of the Sum fifty five Pounds Current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Clement the Reciept whereof they do hereby acknowledge hath Granted Bargained Sold aliened Released and Confirmed and by these Presents to grant Bargain Sell alien Release and Confirm unto the said James Clement his heirs and assigns forever one certain Tract or parcel of Land Containing One hundred and ninty acres Lying and being in Pittsylvania County on both sides of the frying Pan Creek being the Land where the Said Josiah Sertain and Jacob now live and being part of Tract of Land of four hundred Acres granted to John Goade and Bounded by a dividing line but west from the said Goade and Sertain with all houses orchards gardens meadows Pastures feeding Woods underwoods Ways waters & watercourses Together with all the Estate Right Title Interest Possession property Claim and Demand Whatsoever of them the said Josiah and Jacob Sertain of in and to the said Land and Premises or any part or parcel thereof with the Reversion and Reversions Remainder and Remainders of all and Singular the beforementioned Land and Premises with there and every of their appurtenances To have and to hold the said Land and Premises with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said James Clements his heirs and assigns forever free and Clear from all former or other Deeds Gifts grants Bargains Sales Dowers Rights of Dower or any other Incumbrances whatsoever and further the said Josiah and Jacob Sertain do Promise and agree to and with the said James Clement his Heirs and assigns that they with the right and Title of the said Land and Premises with their and every of their appurtenances against all persons whatsoever will warrant and Defend unto the said James Clement his heirs and assigns forever and Lastly the said Josiah and Jacob Sertain do Promise and agree to and with the said James Clement his Heirs and assigns that they Shall and will be Ready shall Cause hereafter to make any further Deed or Deeds Conveyance or Conveyances in the Law for the better Securing the Rights and Title of the said Land and Premises unto the said James Clement his heirs and assigns as he the said James Clement Shall Reasonably devise or Require In Witness whereof the said Josiah and Jacob Sertain have hereunto Set their hands and Seals the Day and year first within Written
