This Indenture made this Second Day of January in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Eight Between James Clement of Pittsylvania County of the one part and Field Robertson of the said County of the other Part Witnesseth that the said James Clement for and in Consideration of the Sum of One Hundred Pounds Current money of Virginia to him in hand Paid the receipt whereof he Doth hereby Acknowledge hath Granted Bargained Sold Alien'd Enfeoff'd and Confirm'd and does by these Presents Grant Bargain Sell Alien Enfeoff and Confirm unto the said Field Robertson his heirs and Assigns one Certain Tract or Parcel of Land Lying and being in Pittsylvania County on both sides of both forks of the Frying Pan Creek Bounded by John Coxs Lines by John Clements and by Charles Goads Lines Containing by Estimation One hundred and Sixty Acres more or Less and the Reversion and Reversions remainder and Remainders thereof and all the Estate Right Title Interest Claim and Demand whatsoever of him the said James Clement of in and to the said Land and Premises and every part and Parcel thereof To have and to hold the said Land and Premises with the appurtenances unto the said Field Robertson his heirs and assigns forever and the said James Clement does hereby for himself his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns Covenant promise and Agree to and With the said Field Robertson his heirs and Assigns that he the said James Clement the aforementioned Land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said Field Robertson his heirs and assigns against all Persons whatsoever shall and will Warrant and forever Defend In Witness whereof the said James Clement hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the Day & year first above Written Sign'd Seal'd and Delivered
Memorandum that on the Day
and year first within Written Quiet and Peacable Possession and Seizure
of the within Mentioned Land and Premises with the Appurtenances was given
and made by James Clement to Field
Robertson According to the Tenor
and Effect of the within Written Deed Recd of Field
Robertson the Sum of One Hundred Pounds Current Money in full of all
Demand for the within mentioned Land. At a Court held for Pittsylvania
