In the Name of God Amen I Charles Lewis of Pittsylvania County being at present in tollerable Good health and of sound mind and disposing memory do think proper to make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner following Viz. first I Give and bequeth to my son Charles one Negro man Sam and one feather bed to him & to his heirs and assigns forever, Item I give & bequeth to my son Zachariah and to his --- Lawfull heirs one Negro man Names Essex & one feather bed. I also lend to my said son Zachariah my Negro Girl Delpha with her future increase and at the Decease of my said son Zachariah I then Give my said Negro Delpha and increase to be equally Divided amongst his children Lawfully begotten. Item I Give & bequeath to my son Edward and to his heirs and assigns forever one Negro woman Philis with her future increase and one feather bed. Item I lend to my son James during his Natural life one Negro Woman Dinah, and a Negro Boy Ramdom with their future increase, and one feather bed and at the Decease of my sd son James I then Give my said Negroes & increase (as lent to him) to be Equally Divided between his children Lawfully begotten. Item I lend to my Son John during his Natural life one Negro boy Ben and a Negro Girl Lankey with her future increase and one feather bed and after my son John's Decease, I then Give the said Negroes Ben & Lankey & increase to be Equally Divided amongst his Children Lawfully begotten. Item I Give & bequeath to my son William and to his heirs and assigns forever my Negro man Roger, my Negro woman Anna, my Negro Girls Polley and Jinmey with their future increase, also two feather beds & furniture likewise all my tract of Land I now live on supposed to be ------ Three Hundred acres Excepting one acre around the Grave Yard or Burying Places which I reserve for a Burying Ground, together with the Plantations and all its appurtannances thereto belonging, also all my Household & Kitchen furniture, my Plantation utensils & with my stocks of Horses, Cattle, sheep & Hogs, Item I give to my Daughter Mary Keatts one Negro man James, and one feather bed to her and her heirs forever, Item I lend to my Daughter Lucreasy Clement, one Negro Woman Lucy with her future increase and at the Death of my said Daughter I then Give the said Negro Lucy & future Increase to be Equally Divided Between all my Said Daughters Surviving Children, by Will and Devise is that my son William may and is hereby compelled to pay all my Just Debts out of What I give him also my Desire is that my Estate may not be appraised, nor my Executor compelled to Give security for his Performance as Executor to my Estate as the ------ I do hereby Ordain Constitute and appoint my said son William my whole and sole Executor to this my Last Will and Testament Disammitting revoking and making Void all other will or Wills Heretofore by me made. In witness whereof I have Hereunto set my Hand and offered my seal this 30 Day of March 1802

At a Court held for Pittsylvania County the 19 Day of October 1805 the Last Will and Testament of Charles Lewis ---- was Presented in Court and Proved by the oaths of two of the subscribing Witnesses thereto Ordered that the same be Recorded and on the motion of William Lewis the Executor therein Named there being no security required by the said Will who made oath according to Law Certificate is Granted him for obtaining a Probate thereof in due course
